Overview:
Jet Lancer is a third-person dog-fighting game developed by independent developers Vladimir Feduyshkin and Nicolai Danielsen, published by Armor Games Studios for PC and Mac. Music and sound design for Jet Lancer was provided by Fat Bard.
Plot:
Flight school drop-out, Ash, finds herself working for a mercenary group to make ends meet in the cockpit a discontinued government prototype jet. While dealing with mundane sky-pirates and her old classmates, ancient war machines begin to stir and threats long forgotten begin to reemerge. Ash finds herself confronting giant robots, government agents, and her own feelings of self doubt as she tries to keep everything from falling to ruin.
Gameplay:
Jet Lancer is a side-scrolling action game that uses bullet hell genre conventions and momentum based flight mechanics. Gameplay segments put players in the cockpit of Ash's jet. Players are able to engage standard thrusters alongside an after
burner effect to propel themselves. The jet is also equipped with an evasion ability- either a standard roll, or an air dash which can also be used to damage enemies. There are three types of weapons the jet has access to at any time— a low-damage high fire rate minigun, quickly recharging ordinance, or a slow recharging heavy weapon. The jet loadout can be changed between missions and player equipment options expand as they progress through the game.
History
Jet Lancer began as a close quarters combat flight simulator. As the art became more stylized the game gained a small following on Twitter under the name Skychasers: Reborn and was later renamed to Jet Lancer in December 2018.
