History
Whedon enjoyed a brief stint of directing blockbuster movies in the superhero genre at his career peak, overseeing the development of the first two Avengers movies and salvaging post-production of Justice League for Warner Brothers. He was originally to develop a Batgirl movie from the ground up, but soon after became a target of "Cancel Culture" when his past as a misogynistic groomer of young girls while working in television was revealed to the world. Whedon's ex-wife confirmed that he had affairs with young women countless times during their marriage, many longtime Firefly and Buffy fansites closed down after this. His jobs in the entertainment industry dried up and he has continued to lay low since. In January of 2022 responded to the cancellation in a controversial article for New York Magazine, entitled The Undoing of Joss Whedon. In the piece Whedon appeared totally unapologetic about most of the decisions he made in the past and its purpose seemed to backfire. Whedon is enormously wealthy and can retire comfortably without worrying about losing his public image as a male feminist.
