I remember when Sony first put games up on the Playstation store you had to download it to your PSP through your PS3, but now that PSP has it's own store, is this still true? I'd love to play this game again but I don't have a PS3.

You can download games straight to your PSP now.

So maybe I'm dumb but I couldn't find an option on Sony's Playstation Store site to download the game, or any other PS1 game. Theirs not even anything telling me that I could download it through the PS3. Am I missing something here?

I have no idea what region you're in, but on the PSP Store, straight from the psp, you can just download it. Under PS1 Classics.
