    Cumbersome? I laugh at thee!

These past years all we have seen is fast, hamsters-on-coffee, non-thinking shooting action.  Well, not anymore! Lost Planet 2 is, to me, a breath of fresh air. I got used to the game in the first hour of gaming I put in it and, in all honesty, I really do not see how the controls can be clunky! Sure it can take a bit of time to get used to them, but after the first few missions it will come naturally to you.

Another complaint I kept hearing about was the "checkpoint system", all I can think is that the people complaining about this have never touched a hard game or a game that required some sort of planning (Monster Hunter comes to mind, I do not know what those people would do if they had to play Monster Hunter). This point also applies to the akrids being "cheap", its a no-brainer that you will get pounced to death if all you do is stand in front/behind of it and shoot till you run out of ammo.

The graphics are spectacular, the OST is memorable and the coop is really fun. I didn't get a chance to play much of the multiplayer but I was gladly surprised to see that 2 VS suits could combine into a bigger one with a sort of ion cannon as well as finding one with a tactital nuke.

All in all, I think this game is a good buy if you like hard games, thinking and stunning graphics. Do not be mislead by the constant whining about the save point, it was high time a game stopped babysitting us.

Very good review. It said the same points as the video review I posted of someone else doing and saying the same things. For some reason, that video is getting bashed.

Does anyone else see the irony of praising the game for requiring thought when you basically just have to shoot the giant, glowing orange spot? Do I have to think about what weapon to use? Is that where thought comes into play?

Don't forget all the thinking you need to do if you're not playing co-op. You'd be better off playing with lobotomy patients.

See? THIS is the problem, people not wanting to put any effort into a game. Just because you get a giant glowing thing to shoot, it doesnt mean you have to stand still shooting it while looking at other stuff o your pc.

@AzureDemon: No, folks like YOU are the problem, defending crappy design and half-ass game mechanics. What effort do I have to put into shooting an obvious, massive weak spot!? Capcom should have put the effort into actually making a functional game. LP2 is chock full of cheap, instant deaths which only act as a way to artificially increase the difficulty. The game is NOT legitimately hard. Then there's the matter of the asinine controls that were the biggest drawback of the original Lost Planet. They've been left unchanged! Why not make aiming better and get rid of the stupid 90 degree turn mapped to the shoulder buttons. That would free up space to have a designated roll button so you don't have to push in the left stick and press A to dive out of the way of an incoming attack (you know, so you're not just standing still and shooting at it.) God knows, you can't move fast enough to get out of the way most of the time.

If you cant be arsed to dodge a giant claw coming your way, or effectively dodge the line of sight of an enemy sniper. THAT'S YOUR problem, not the games.

And come on! Having the ability to turn 90 degrees in any direction is, possibly, the most amazing thing ever.

Like I said, if you cant be bothered to learn the gaming mechanics, thats your problem. I for one Love both Lost Planet games as well as a lot of other people.

This is glaringly obvious by the fact that, even on PC, there's still a LOT of people playing online on LP colonies.

Be arsed to learn the controls and then learn to play the game. Seriously, you wouldn't survive 3 missions before throwing your control through a window if you had to play monster hunter.

EDIT: Also, just because the enemy has a giant weak spot you have to shoot, it doesn't mean you have to stand still shooting at it. Or do you stand still shooting at people in games like oh I dont know, quake, doom, unreal, modern warfare, bad company, or any other shooters? Because if you do...that says more about your lack of gaming skills than you think.

@ATrevelan: cheap deaths? i suppose that getting hit by giant monsters is not instand dead , and in this game u can get head shot by enemy AI, games hard and good.

Exactly my point, a game that actually tells you "dude, you are in the line of sight of my sniper rifle" and headshots you. Is awesome.

Many people think that this game, being a "omfg there's a giant thing I got to shoot" enables them to be kamikaze wannabes, well guess what.  THEY ARE WRONG.

I've just won this game, and can't to play it, good review but I think it only worked from reading other reviews.

Japanese Developer Still Stuck in the Past 0

I had high hopes for Lost Planet 2.  It had a a decent amount of hype, pretty graphics and the promise of huge co-op boss battles;  almost like a japanese Gears of War.  Too bad this game couldn't hold a candle to that franchise, not even the original.  Lets start with what I enjoyed most about Lost Planet 2.  From beginning to end, I was never let down in the presentation department.  From the snow covered vistas and lush green jungles to the dark and dank Akrid caves, Lost Planet 2 is a looker...

A Great Game Shot Down Too Quick 0

Lost Planet 2 is truly much better than recent reviews pin it. There, I said it. It seems as though most people haven't given this game a chance and just go by what a large media syndicate says the game is worth. And this my friends is rubbish.   GRAPHICS: The graphics in Lost Planet 2 are stellar. Whether your in an icy tundra, a tropical rainforest, or an arid desert; your surroundings look true to life. Being in the rainforest of E.D.N. III made me feel like I was in the jungle of Peter Jacks...
