Invented by Arne Magnusson himself, the Magnusson Device is a heavy high-powered magnetic mine designed to destroy Striders. There was no way to attach it to the hull of the Strider so It had no practical use up until Gordon Freeman arrived with his Gravity Gun, which has such an ability. Since it cannot be remotely detonated, the player must shoot at it manually. Teleportation devices that send in new Magnusson Devices around the final battle area are set up for use of Gordon as well as an add-on to the car allowing Gordon to carry a single Magnusson Device at a time. If the Hunters guarding the Striders are not dispatched appropriately they can neutralize the device.
