    The Man-Bat's common origin story is that he was a scientist experimenting with using bats sonar abilities to help people hear or see. When he tested the formula on himself he was transformed into a bat. In many stories he encounters Batman for one reason or another and he has to subdue him and make him go back to his normal human state.
