Marvelous Chester is an NPC in the DLC expansion for Dark Souls, "Artorias of the Abyss". He is first encountered in Oolacile's Royal Wood as a merchant, offering sardonic bits of knowledge about Oolacile and the events that have transpired since its downfall. Like the player, Chester hails from the modern era and refers to his abrupt arrival in ancient Oolacile through the same mysterious portal.
Players in human form will be invaded by Chester's Black Phantom while exploring Oolacile Township. However, dispatching Chester's Phantom will not make Chester himself hostile; he merely expresses his annoyance towards the player during their next conversation.
