Masaya Nakamura was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1925 and graduated from Yokohama National University in 1948. He founded Namco (then called Nakamura Manufacturing) in 1955 and later became president of Bandai Namco Games.
He was also inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame in 2010.
He was also a senior advisor to the Japan Amusement Machine and Marketing Association.
Nakamura was also an honorary member of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Japanese government awarded him the "Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette" for his contribution to Japanese Industry.
