Okay, so with the new trailer (or real, new tail to the trailer we saw Thursday and I already wrote an extensive blog post about), BioWare has updated the Mass Effect 2 website and dropped a ton of new information about the game. Here is some of the stuff I thought was interesting, but check it out for yourself. (If you don't have the latest version of Flash, you might need to update.) Needless to say, if you don't want to know anything about ME2, stop reading now:

    • Shepard is finally named as the main playable character, though there is still talk about the mission being a "suicide" mission and Shepard being dead or assumed dead plays a major plot role.
    • Some new locales are revealed/named, including Purgatory, a maximum security prison space station where you're assigned to break someone out, and Tuchanka, the krogan home world.
    • There are apparently 12 possible crew members that you can recruit in the game, which is double the crew that you had in the first. There is no real word however on if some of these team members are the 5 to 4 members left alive from the previous game or not. I suspect at least some will return.
    • Combat has been refined, and shooting enemies in certain locations has specific effect. Translation: hello headshots.
    • Yes, there is more "romance."

I am so excited. I loved Mass Effect, it was my favorite RPG (and one of my favorite games) that year.

Anyone know where I can find the E3 gameplay? I really want to watch it.
Or, did they not show anything new?

Very cool.  Breaking someone out of space prison?  Count me in.  Plus more crew members should be awesome.   I think I'm going to have to play through Mass Effect again with another character.  Damn, this will be a massive branching story by the time the credits roll on ME3.

I'm very pumped for this game. Spring 2010 isn't soon enough.
