Alright ladies and germs, it's been almost a year and I still think it's a good idea. Now for the placement. I was thinking either in the "Official" position to the right, on the chest, or on my left shoulder, just above the triceps. Thoughts?

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback from everybody. I am now leaning towards the shoulder as per Morrow and Landon's argument. Thanks!

Why not get it some where smaller? Like on the wrist?

The fucking forehead! In all seriousness, I got a Batman symbol on my shoulder blade. That's a good spot. Even more seriously, though? Do it on the forehead.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. But that's what I always say about tatoos related to a band/character/franchise etc. The love could be fleeting.

I think you should get it on your right shoulder, because that's the arm Shepard wears his logo, but it's your tattoo so do what feels natural, but I wouldn't want to put it on my chest. A tattoo is a work of art and should be shown off. You don't want to pull down your neck collar every time you show it to someone, right?

It depends. I, for example, think tattoos that are not initially visible to everyone are more interesting and sexy.

I guess I can see where you are coming from, but I wouldn't want to hide something like that. A tattoo is something you permanently bind to your body and if I were to hide it away I feel like others would think I were ashamed of it.

@Landon: Well, to each their own ^^ If I'd get a tattoo I'd choose the back of my neck, so it would be hidden by my hair but someone close to me would eventually see it. I think the whole thing would get an exclusive touch. But I can also understand someone who takes pride in their tattoo(s) and wants to show them off :)

Sometimes you just feel a strange affiliation with a game/show/character/whatever. At some point I wanted an ANBU tattoo on my upper right arm :D

Don't. Half of the people I know regret their tattoos. The other half don't regret them, but no longer like them.

I know the feeling; for a very long time after playing BioShock I wanted to get those three chain links tattooed on my inside wrist. But now that I'm out of the woods, I can see just how incredibly stupid that idea is.

Imagine when you're a grandparent. "Hey, Grams, why do you have a... a... whatever that blob is on your shoulder?"

I've never met anyone who regretted not getting a tattoo.

Even though I like Mass Effect and the look of the N7, it's so inside baseball for anyone not familiar with the game i'm not sure it'd work well for a tattoo (unless you like explaining it to everyone who sees it). At least with a symbol like a Triforce or the Assassin's Creed emblem, it can be appreciated for it's design. Even in the game's fiction the N is an arbitrary letter, which makes it even more meaningless.

Video game tattoos are incredibly embarrassing unless it's something very classic and iconic and even then...

Girl: Do you have any tattoos?
    You: Yeah one.
Girl: Awesome! Let's see. Oh, N7? What's that mean?
You: It's from a video game called Mass Effect. The main character has it on his armour.
    Girl: Oh...ok....

@Landon: I was using that same thought for the chest. However, if there is a N7 logo on Shepard's arm then I may go there. I like putting tattoo's where they are best represented.

Also, I care less about if people see it, it's something meaningful. I don't have to have it somewhere I would always see it to appreciate it. Also, I never understood how video game tattoo's are more embarrassing then tattooing your favorite sports team, or dragons, or anything else. People tattoo butterfly's, turtles, who cares? The Triforce vs. any other game related tattoo argument is more of a personal preference. Do you want people to recognize it? Is it more of a symbol of "hey, say something if you recognize this"? If that is the case, do not get a tattoo. Where a shirt or something. I feel attached to this universe, and this tattoo is more of a symbol of an underlying relationship with it.

Well, if all you explain is "Hurr durr its from a video game" of course they wouldn't be impressed. I would even be shaking my head as to why you did that. The N7 logo is a symbol of courage and sacrifice. The red stripe next to the 7 is a symbol of the blood that humans shed to earn their place in the galaxy. The symbol itself is military, so you could even spin it as your way of showing respect to any solider. The symbol carries a lot of weight, and if a girl is going to be shallow enough to say "well, it's a video game so it's dumb" then I'll just make fun of her shitty dolphin on her ankle or terrible butterfly on her lower back.

Get a tattoo of something you actually believe in or something that has actually affected you. Stuff that means something. I love Mass Effect, and the N7 logo, but I wouldn't get a tattoo of it just 'cause it looks cool.

But whatever, I can't call those shots. It's your body. Just put it somewhere you can't directly see, so if you regret it, you don't have to look at it.

I'd rather a goat holding a baby up snorting cocaine off its penis.

That's exactly what I was getting at. People are so shallow about tattoo's sometimes. It's more than a logo, it actually symbolizes something. Something to believe in.
