So, maybe this an old topic... I didn't see another post on the matter.

    No Caption Provided

But, I just had a pseudo-philosophical moment about the little boy who dies in the beginning (not as good as the ME2 intro, IMO)

    He's not real.

I mainly say that because when he was getting on the drop ship, no one paid any attention to him. Shepard seemed to be the only person who saw him. Now I know that the kid is a boy whether you are you are bro or femshep, but ... that's my two cents.

If it was a girl when you were a femshep I would chalk it up to Shepard looking at the child as himself/herself but since it's a boy in both scenarios I think it's just Bioware's attempt to make the story more emotional...

There's no reason for him to be imaginary, so that's why he's not imaginary.

You could say that Shepard was the only one to ever see him, so he COULD be imaginary... but you could also say that I've never seen a female Salarian, so maybe it's because they're 50 feet tall.

    like... why.

@I_smell: I could have sworn the Salarian leader who disagrees with the genophage was a female. The voice was very womanly at least.

The Dalatrass was a female. Someone called the Dalatrass with a female pronoun

@LordXavierBritish: Don't bring logic into a Mass Effect 3 discussion. It has been clearly established any talk of Mass Effect 3 is to cover only two topics. Day one DLC and the ending. Good day to you!

Edit: Sorry three topics, Fuck Bioware/EA is also acceptable.

I was thinking the reason he showed up at the end because the Catalyst wanted to model itself after something "familiar" to Shepard to not shock him or something maybe. Kind of like in the movie Contact when the lady finally goes through the portal device and finds her long dead dad standing on an alien planet talking to her because it wanted to present her with something she was familiar with. Something like that anyway.
