Am I really the first to post this or is there something I'm missing? Or maybe people just don't care. In any case, it's a shame I'm not excited for this. I remember wanting every piece of gameplay DLC they would offer after Mass Effect 2 but I don't even know if I'll play Leviathan.

    Description:

Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever.
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan expands upon the events of Mass Effect 3, with gripping and emotional storytelling, compelling new characters, and powerful weapons and upgrades. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan.
Travel to new systems, wield the AT-12 Raider Shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle, and unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late.
On Aug. 28th there is no war, only the harvest.

    @FluxWaveZ: I hadn't seen this.

This isn't what I wanted out of more ME3 content. I want post-ending story which concerns the other races, not more Reaper stuff :/

So why should we even care about this weapon if anyone who has beaten the game know that the Reapers are undefeatable?

Yesh, I mean, we know that no matter what happens, the events of the DLC don't mean anything for the game's narrative. It all still ends the same way.

The only way I can really get excited for this DLC is if I find out somehow it changes the ending. Which I doubt but jeez man. That ending still kills me when I think about it.

Yeah, I already shot the big red pipe until it blew up, and I didn't need a Leviathan to do it.

Eh, I'm done with Shepard, give me new characters and stories. I'll play it but it's not a must. I'm also not just saying this because of the ending I'm just bored of Shepard and the crew.

I'll probably wait to play it, but only because I'm currently playing through ME 1 & 2 again. Having this DLC waiting for me once I get to 3 will be a nice bonus.

Agreed. The fact that I did pretty much everything perfectly in all three games and still ended up with the Reapers destroying civilization makes this content seem kinda pointless.

That being said, when I eventually play through the series again, I'll probably pick this up.

I loved ME 3 and most of the ME 2 DLC. But even I'll admit that the story's concluded and these doesn't feel like a must play.

With that being said, I'll still be playing this.

the day that I never thought I would see coming when I uninstalled mass effect 1 and 2 from my computer because of how much I just don't really care for 3. I think if it played like part 2 I could dig it but really the melee shit just killed it for me.

So, to pretty much everyone commenting, did you enjoy playing Mass Effect 3? I'm not saying that you're wrong if you didn't, but if there's nothing for you here but story hooks maybe you didn't like Mass Effect 3 the game. I enjoyed playing Mass Effect 3, so I'll probably try this at some point.

I'm not afraid to say that I'm a fanboy of the Mass Effect franchise, I've played each game numerous times. I think it was 5 play throughs of ME1, 8 of ME 2 and ME3 I've done 4 times so far. I've always enjoyed the gameplay and the universe that its set within so I'll be picking this up come the 28th.

i cannot be bothered. i replayed ME 1 & 2 right before 3 came out with my main shep, only to have no face import available in the new game, and then only broken face import available, so i haven't finished the story with her at all, and why bother anyway - the romance elements are so flimsy in 3 for one thing, plus the game is too damn easy with the import bonuses they decided to give, so if I do replay 3 it will be with a brand new character with no history, anyway the point is there is no more money going their way full stop.

Yea, not going to even bother with this. ME has always been ABSURDLY overrated. Series really kinda marked the decline of Bioware into a marginal company. Sadly I did prob enjoy ME3 more then DA2. Ugh, I hate you EA.....

I don't get why EA/Bioware doesn't understand that their games are about story...the big one, that's like the main draw but they seem so fucking hellbent on forcing the combat and sidestories down our throat.

When does this come out? I paused my playthrough of ME3 because I heard this was to be released in "Summer".

Also, EDI cannot equip assault rifles. Why did they keep making this mistake in the games? It should be perfectly possible to load up the graphics for that character's actual weapon for in-engine cutscenes, but even if it isn't, they could at least use the default versions of weapons they can actually equip.

Yup. And while I really enjoyed the gameplay in ME3, it worked best when it was in tandem with a story and such scenarios that I was actually invested in, and since the story has basically collapsed onto itself I find it hard to care.

and your logic would be simplistic. what does money have to do with anything? do you like it because you paid money for it?

also... "purportedly" hate? are you having a hard time accepting the fact that it did not go down well? do you not accept that certain things about the game's execution alienated a lot of players in a big big way?

If anybody still gives a shit about Leviathan, then I suggest you only watch half of that trailer. In typical BioWare fashion, it feels like they give away the whole damn thing.

The story is so integral to the game that its hard to separate it from the gameplay. So its no surprise people aren't super excited to play some DLC that will ultimately be meaningless.

@Brendan: A part of me did enjoy it and to be frank I wanted more , but the small things still gets me :( all the people clearly wanted exploration back but to make it more palatable to the non fans (and including the non rpg option) they have to sacrifice a lot , also .... I dunno its just that so much cool shit could ve been done and maybe I wouldnt mind all this if the endings were perfect , Imean I did liked the EC , but still didnt not deliver an appropiate ending or maybe it just me and I cant let go of the characters. Its stupid but that how I feel.

A lot of that trailer reminded me of Mass Effect 2 DLC and I was thinking maybe this could be pretty good. And then he did that Omni-blade punch and I recoil. 'Oh yeah, that game.'

I know I'm probably joining in on a dog-pile, but it's just an honest reaction that really surprised me.

@HH: No, I like it because it was fun and engaging and entertaining. I invested a significant of money and time into a product and in return got an amazing experience. Others made the same investment and received a disappointing experience. I am at a net gain while others are at a net loss, therefore I am not the one who is sucking it.

And "purportedly" because a lot of the dissenters I've seen on various forums are just mindlessly parroting the same irrational and baseless complaints made by thousands of others, many of whom clearly have not played the game. There are valid criticisms to be sure, but most people aren't making them. I'm playing the odds.

@mutha3: It sounds like you're the confused one if you're merely apathetic but managed to somehow end up boarding the hate-train. I can't be held responsible for collateral damage.

This doesn't really interest me. Releasing story DLC months after the story came to a definite, final close seems weird to me. I don't care about how my Shepard hypothetically went to find a super-weapon, only to find out that it does nothing (except beyond maybe adding some points to the weirdly-tangible Galactic Readiness meter). As for the Reaper's origins part of the DLC, they already mucked it up pretty good with the Star Child thingy and explained it in a way that makes me not very interested at all in finding out how they actually came about.

The post-credit stinger just made me stop caring about the Mass Effect universe. Killed it for me. It's no longer my Shepard shaping the events of the universe, it's Buzz Aldrin's ramblings so his nephew will go to sleep.

    irrational and baseless complaints

you are aware of the face import mess?

from the beginning the trilogy was sold to players on the fact that they could play all three parts with the same character design (something that is KEY to a lot of rpg gamers),

part 3, then, for no good reason, simply could not accommodate said character design. How is it irrational and baseless to complain about that? Please, tell me, how?

And that's just one aspect that players felt let down by. you are way off the mark here, if you cannot see that these complaints are legitimate.

"There are valid criticisms to be sure, but most people aren't making them. I'm playing the odds."

So you decide to lump the legitimate complainers in with the people you think are copying them and call them all "sheeple"? real sound logic right there.

@mutha3: It sounds like you're the confused one if you're merely apathetic but managed to somehow end up boarding the hate-train. I can't be held responsible for collateral damage.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but okay, I'm sure its very funny.

The story is so integral to the game that its hard to separate it from the gameplay. So its no surprise people aren't super excited to play some DLC that will ultimately be meaningless.

Yep. I liked the combat in ME3 just fine, but the encounter-design was preeeetttyyy terrible and made sure that by the end of the game, I had my fill of it.

So yeah, the story hooks are the only thing that would motivate me to come back to the game, and after ME3(the entirety of it, not just the ending) I kinda don't care about Mass Effect anymore.

I definitely enjoyed playing Mass Effect 3 but that's not the draw for me.
