Mojang decided to print more money and now Minecraft is heading to the Playstation 3, ps3/ps4 versions are based off the 360 version which was a very good port but limited in world size. If you think minecraft is dumb give this a shot it's not really as jarring as the PC version very simple UI, i thought the game was dumb but then i got a free code for the 360 and holy shit at the hours i put in this year just mining and building a dumb house with a couple of friends and a railway that lead to nowhere.

I guess this is cool, but I don't really think they should be charging so much for it.

Without all the moddable and customizable aspects it's pretty much half a game.

Well, I know this might sound like heresy, but I can't stand using a mouse and keyboard for most pc games. A controller is just more accessible for me personally. So the prospect of it being on a console is much more appealing to someone like me.

Anyways, that's great for Ps3 users, but I've already put mine away. I'll be more interested when it releases for the new consoles.

You are missing out on mods and the lastest updates though, and there are a lot of great mods for minecraft on the pc.

The Playstation Blog says that they've sold over 30 million copies of the game. So at least 7 million.

I got in fairly early with Minecraft (right about when it first blew up in beta I think) and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. But I would consider picking this up to play with a friend or my brother or something because even with all the limitations, the co-op/being able to join people's worlds part is cool.

@spankmealotus: Minecraft: Pocket Edition hit the 10 million mark back in May of this year (Gamespot), for a combined of over 33 million in sales on all platforms as of early September. I expect, with the inclusion of the PS4 version, that number will be north of 40 million at the very least.

Yes both PS3 and PS4 versions are like the 360 version. Xone version will the version more like the PC.

huh, so in other words children who are able to run their own minecraft servers are more advance then console kids. I seriously feel this growing sense of pride in the future of children.

I actually think the best thing about the Xbox 360 version (having not played it but seen in videos) is the actual crafting and tutorial interface, although I will admit at times it does seem a bit too hand holdy. It's still pretty crazy that MC still has no actual in game tutorial of any kind and you have to look at the wiki to figure stuff out and to even see whats possible to be crafted, as a new person how is any of that supposed to be innate to you? If you're not already entrenched in MC, don't follow the YouTube community or have friends playing it you're pretty boned as a newcomer.

(This is coming from someone who has exclusively played the PC version on and off for the past 3 years)

I have been meaning to get back to minecraft on pc, but the fact that its still on java and it doesn't have controller support I hadn't bother.

I might end up picking this up. I tried out the demo a bit on my iPad last year and it seemed pretty enjoyable. I think I'd enjoy it more with a controller. Keep in mind, I have not played it on a PC or 360 yet.

I'm waiting for the Vita or PS4 version. Trying to not buy PS3 games, especially PSN titles, now that I'm slowly packing up last gen stuff.

That is really lame. Hopefully when they release the title updates they can bring it up to snuff.
