Is it me or do some of the characters look like they had some extra work with them compared to others?

The regular bare chested human characters do look a little weird but all in all they look superb

At work we checked out the models for MK vs DC by ripping them out and putting them in 3dsmax. The quality of the modeling was piss poor, texture work as well, with a lot of wasted space on the texture sheets. Diffuse, Specular, Normal maps were all pretty bland looking. 
I mean, most third person shooters had better work done to their characters (ex. Gears of war, Prince of Persia, etc)

I saw a picture of Lui Kang from MK vs. DC and he looked better and not to be offensive but more "asian" than the new version. Same goes for Kung Lao. I can realistically see this game being released next year as an "Ultimate" Edition though with all the bells and whistles and hopefully upgraded character models with texturing. It is just odd that some of the most important characters look so bad.

Its not something you really notice while playing the game but with the story mode showing off these character models, it is very noticeable. They just look like they are from completely different games. My gf also said that the women look too manly with their proportions. Everyone has a 8 pack in the game.

I know nothing about how 3D modeling works, but I thought everyone looked pretty good. Skin looks a little too shinny sometimes, but besides that, fine.

Also I'm guessing the character models look the way they do because they all have to be able to split in half, blow to pieces, melt, burn, and turn into babies. And if anything was done differently the game would cease to function properly and be a complete fucking mess.

Does anyone else think Kabal looks kind of stupid? I'm ok with most of it, except for his hair.

We loaded up SF4 and it was the other way round. A lot of attention to detail, very good model unwraping, etc. 

I guess some models in this one are given the same treatment they were given in MKDC.
