Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios today announce that Mortal Kombat has officially gone gold on the PlayStation(r)3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Scheduled to launch on April 19, Mortal Kombat is the most brutal installment of the legendary fighting game to date and is currently available for pre-order at all major retailers across North America.

Being developed by NetherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, the newest chapter of the iconic fight franchise marks a triumphant return to the series' mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic. Driven by an all new graphics engine, the fan favorite Fatality is back and presented in more gory detail than ever before. In addition, Mortal Kombat introduces a number of new game-play features including tag team, a deep story mode, and, exclusively for the PS3, Stereoscopic 3D. Players can choose from an extensive lineup of the game's iconic warriors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or take on several new game modes including Challenge Tower and the soon-to-be-announced online modes.

 @TechHits:  one of my top anticipated games of the year, challenge tower and the story mode, i doubt it will disappoint

if the game includes the cutscenes seen in the 'Story Mode' from the Johnny Cage 'Fight Dirty' promo, this game looks to be the best MK yet.  That plus Challenge tower and online = there goes seeing sunlight this summer...

MvC3 was the most hyped fighting game of all time. That game was more than 10 years coming and it got more hate than any game I can think of. Alot of crazy things can happen between launch night and the following day.

Too bad the official Mortal Kombat site sucks so bad, they really should update it and do stuff with it...its two weeks before release and that site is craptastic

i havent bought a fighting game since the first mk era. so yea this mk game is gunna do wonders. i got my homie to play the demo n he jumped on it n wanted to buy it asap.
