WIn A Trip To Hawaii--On Casual Gaming's Dime

The industry may be on a financial downturn, but Peggle maker PopCap is healthy enough to sponsor a tropical sweepstakes.

A generous offering.
A generous offering.
Thumbing through the Inside Xbox section of the new 360 dashboard last night, I saw a promotional unit bearing the phrase "Want to win a trip to Hawaii?" Well, sure, who wouldn't? So I watched the video.

Turns out, this is a promotional sweepstakes tied in with Feeding Frenzy 2, a casual Xbox Live Arcade game from your friends at PopCap. The grand prize is a six-night trip for two to Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, which PopCap is sponsoring. You can hit the official site if you want to enter.

Hopefully nobody is missing the economic irony here. Rogue Squadron maker Factor 5 can't pay its employees, and oldschool arcade giant Midway is mere weeks away from bankruptcy; meanwhile, the empire built on such low-impact favorites as Peggle and Zuma is sending you on tropical vacations. If you needed yet more proof the market has shifted toward casual players, look no further.

Hey, sounds like a solid chance to me. Feels rather backwards that these guys can afford such an offering.

Probably a USA only thing, and I don't want to go to Hawaii anyway.  Have you seen how packed the beaches are there?  I like my canadian snow.

WIn is 66% of the word "Wii"

I see what you did there, Brad.

I, myself, am addicted to Peggle even though I'm a avid PC and PS3 gamer.

Popcap to become the next Activision, you heard it here first.
I'd love to go to Hawaii, but like almost all contests on the xblm, it's US-only.
