EA Sack normally puts its testicles on a breakout individual star from the season. One could argue that Stammering Steve was the brightest example of this last year.

Google says the last Goalie on the cover was John Vanbiesbrouck on NHL 97. Everyone who follows Hockey knows who Tim Thomas is and should be on the cover!!! Stamkos is a bum...Although I am a biased Boston fan.

Goalies will never get the recognition that skill position players do. Sad because Thomas was by far the most dominant player in hockey last year

Because Stamkos is a young player who can appeal to even casual hockeyfans. They seem to like them young. I agree even as a Habs fan Tim Thomas would have been a good choice.

You know how much the NHL loves their young stars. You also know how much the NHL loves to focus on non-Original Six teams. Goalies and tough guys are always my favourite players though, would be nice to see more of them on the cover. Maybe Tim Thomas from the Bruins with Cody McLeod from the Avs. I love me some angry redheads.

I agree that Thomas should've been on the cover as well.  Consider this; his team won the Stanley Cup, he had an amazing performance in the playoffs and he won the Conn Smythe Trophy.  Not only that but when you take into account that EA was highlighting the fact that goalies are live now (you can crash into them) and also goalie fights are being introduced, you would think that all the emphasis on goalies would warrant a goalie being on the cover.  Not saying that Stamkos was a bad choice, but Thomas would have been the right one.

Its whats inside that counts.
