I got my 3DS XL, a Pink / White unit, refurbished from Nintendo.
The unit seems perfect, as if I bought it from retail.
What I've noticed, though, is from having it sitting on my desk, the little nubs on the bottom start to wear a little from friction, which is completely normal, but it has revealed the true nature of these specific models:
They are the coveted white shells of the pure white Japanese market 3DS LL, with a layer of pink paint.
Upon closer inspection, the top of the 3DS (where the back of the screen meets the hinge section, where it goes from pink to white) shows the point where the white shell ends, and the paint begins. Same for the edge seams on the bottom.
I am beginning to wonder, with some paint thinner, could the Pink / Mint 3DS XL be reverted to its original white? Has this been tried before?
