    Overview

Nintendo Research and Development 3 (also known as Nintendo R&D3) was one of Nintendo's four internal development studios. R&D3 was founded in the 1980s, with Genyo Takeda as the general manager. R&D3 was the smallest of the three, but that didn't stop them from helping Nintendo on larger projects, as well as developing games targeted more to a Western audience such as NES sports games and Punch-Out!!. Their last game developed was Pilotwings 64. In 2000, they were renamed Nintendo Integrated Research & Development, and all software designers and programmers were moved to Nintendo EAD.
