    Overview

Onesimus: A Quest for Freedom is a 2D platformer developed for MS-DOS by (or at least with the involvement of) Epic Megagames and published by Ark Multimedia Publishing, a seemingly short-lived Christian publisher. The gameplay is largely identical to the Jill of the Jungle series, with Jill reskinned to resemble a different, male character and using the engine and code from the game's third episode, Jill Saves The Prince. The level designs are taken from various levels from throughout the three episodes of the source game, rearranged in different orders (for example, the first level of Jill of the Jungle is quite a ways into Onesimus) and with the morph powerups removed (with appropriate level changes to accommodate).

The game was released in the United States at some point in 1992, with distribution presumably limited to Christian bookstores. Pieces of the game are still scattered around in the files of Jill Saves The Prince.

    Storyline

The story consists of a loose retelling of the New Testament story of Onesimus, a slave on the run from his master, Philemon. Your mission is to escape the Slave's Quarters and make your way towards the city of Rome, where Paul the Apostle awaits.
