Overview
Ophidian is an indie game based on games like Snake and Snafu. Ophidian features four player local multiplayer where players can go head-to-head for highest score, two solo arcade modes, and 100 challenge levels. Ophidian was developed by ManBeardGames and this first game publicly released by him.
Gameplay
Gameplay in Ophidian is similar to the original Snake in that the player automatically moves in the direction input. Players must consume food in order to gain points or complete challenges, while each food consumed increases the length of the player. If the player runs into their own body, a wall, or another player, then it is game over for that player.
Arcade
Arcade in Ophidian contains three different game modes (as of update 01.06.01); Classic Mode, Trash Mode, and Ghost Mode
Classic Mode
Classic mode features the traditional gameplay that players would expect from a snake style game. In classic mode, players consume food to achieve the highest score possible while avoiding running into themselves. There are multiple settings that a player can change in classic mode such as the board size, speed, and enable/disable special type blocks from spawning. Classic mode can also be played with up to four player locally, where each player competes for the highest score, while attempting to eliminate the other players.
Trash Mode
Trash mode is a single player only arcade mode. In trash mode, each time the player consumes food, a wall block is put in its place. Players must try and get the highest score possible while navigating an increasingly dangerous play area. Every so often, after consuming enough food, the player will turn red, signifying that they act as a bomb, and can run into a wall block to destroy it and any surrounding walls.
Ghost Mode
Ghost mode is a single player only arcade mode. In ghost mode, players go through a series of levels with a preset amount of food to consume and a time limit. Each time the player completes a level, a ghost replay of themselves from the previous level is added to the stage, which they must avoid.
Challenges
Ophidian also features 100 challenge levels for players to test their skills in. Each level is timed, allowing players to go back and try to completed the level for a better record time.
