Are they ever going to add real controller support for this on pc? I played about 20 hours and enjoyed but it was one of the arpgs that didnt' work great with a steam controller and I have carpel tunnel so it's hard to play with M/KB/ (don't own a console anymore).

yeah, sefearion is probably the best resource about getting the game working with a pad out there. He's very approachable on twitch and generally always happy to help out, and he's still playing pad to this day.

There are a couple community controller setups in the steam controller config tool in big picture too that should be a good starting point.
