And I need some advice. Wanting to replace my processor and video card. Problem is my motherboard isn't compatible with new generation processors. I was either going to get an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T or an  i7-930 and pair it with a
GTX 470. BUT I was told I need to up my power supply as it's only 650w. I also need to completely replace my RAM. So which processor should I go with and what motherboard would be paired best with each? Also, what sort of cooling would I need? I have around 400-600 to work with, and I'll probably end up picking up the graphics card later down the line.

    I'm upgrading from a Phenom 9600 Quad, GTS 250.

    What are your current specs?

There's really no need to get a 6 core processor unless you'll be doing rendering or other really CPU-intensive stuff. Grab the i7 930 and the 470.

As for the power supply, what really matters is amperage, not wattage.

If you plan on overclocking, you'll probably want to spend a little bit more and get a board that is known for easy overclocking, if not you can save a few bucks on a motherboard.

Current specs are Phenom 9600 Quad Core, 3 gigs of RAM, GTS 250,  ECS MCP61PM-GM motherboard. 64 bit version of Windows 7.

Problem is I guess my case is small and can't handle bigger graphics card or motherboards? Thinking about going with this setup:

    RAM:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226075

    Motherboard:

    CPU:

    Graphics Card:

Think I'll see a decent bump in performance?
