You've probably seen this on other video game blogs but if you haven't there is this fancy site called Steamleft.com. It's a site that takes all of your Steam games and checks each one for the average time it takes to complete that game using HowLongToBeat.com as their database. It then aggregates each total time and spits it out on the screen for you to ogle at. It adds a pretty fun comparison statistic as well.

@slag: Assuming that you're like me and more than half of them haven't been touched, it is a little depressing. Kinda cements the fact that I will never clear my gaming backlog.

@cerberus3dog: Think I've hit around a third so far over the years.

Humble Bundle really exploded my backlog. Trying to stay away from Bundles this year and I have been giving away games I know won't play. I did manage to knockout 64 last year off the backlog.

You should probably just watch The Legend of Korra 122 times. It's a pretty great show.

I got 1519 hours, but a lot of those games I have no intention of ever playing due to them being humble bundle games.

3254 hours. Thanks, Humble Bundle. Fortunately, all the bundles coming out of there for the last 6 months or so have been filled to the brim with stuff I am not at all interested in.

Steamcompletionist.net tells me that I've finished about a third of my games, with another third completely untouched. Most of those latter half games are bundle games that I may not ever play.

I've been using www.howlongtobeat.com directly for a while now, but actually only finished adding my entire backlog yesterday.

Excluding the several hundred games that don't have any submitted times, I've got about 13000 hours to go. And yet I bought another games bundle earlier today. I said to somebody else recently that I actually hope a lot of the games I own are awful, because it'd be faster than wasting a few hours on a merely mediocre game before giving up on it.

Did this earlier today and the result was:

2419 continuous hours. 100 days,19 hours,30 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library

    IN THIS TIME YOU COULD...

Beat the infamous game Desert Bus 3 times

I got so buried that I actually bought a PS4 and gone back to full retail games... and I'm not even being hyperbolic, I think I like video games again and playing everything to completion. My steam library, worth thousands, is just sat there gathering cyber dust...

@bdhurkett: HowLongToBeat has been great for me in advance of playing a game, helps with time management and all that.

I haven't seen truly bad games come out of game bundles (especially the prolific ones like Humble Bundle). I used to let it weigh me down thinking I had to play each game. Now, I just accept that I might miss a gem every now and then.

@yesiamaduck: I sometimes do feel envious of people who only have 1-2 games to play through at a time, cherishing their time spent with each one. Spending hundreds of hours replaying Skyrim with different characters builds or spending their time exploring mods or diving deep into a fighting game. There is nothing stopping me from doing any of these things, but some part of me thinks that I wouldn't be making use of the money I have already spent on the hundreds of other games I have bought over the years.

The sheer amount of games, I imagine a lot of GB users have, changes my perspective on how I spend time with each game. It's a weird predicament and probably not the best mindset to have.

1798 continuous hours - the lifespan of a housefly 3 times.

Although, I have finished 50%+ of the games I have on Steam, so I'm doing pretty well - I try to avoid getting games that I don't really want.

I've got a pretty meagre Steam library compared to most of you! But I've been on Steam less than a year...

Still, I'm probably more likely to watch Tolkein films until my eyes bleed than finish them all.

But any bundle games I know I won't play I toss to steamgifts.

If I made a job out of this and played for 9 hours a day (taking a break on weekends for sanity's sakes) it would take me roughly 2 years 8 months and some change to do it, that of course If I just stopped buying games right now...

Also watching star wars 3.414 times sounds enticing.

What does it mean exactly by "complete"? Because I can complete the story in some games in no time at all, but extra or side content would expand that time.

It means beating the main game only (story, campaign etc) I'm assuming.

They are using howlongtobeat as their source and they have multiple times tabulated for the very reason you describe.

    e.g.

    Skyrim

    http://www.howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=9859

Beating the game on average only takes ~31.5 hours, doing side missions bumps the total to ~101 hours and 100%-ing it takes 200+

I'm assuming they are pulling from the first number (31.5).

Considering how much bundle game garbage I have in my account, I don't feel too bad about this. My percentage of games played vs not is 61%, and I'd say probably only about 10% of my library is games that I bought on their own and didn't get around to. Also, I hate Doctor Who, so that's certainly not a compelling alternative.
