    Hey guys,

I just got a new laptop (MB Air) and I was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions of good strategy games that are compatible with Mac. I haven't played very many save for a little bit of Midieval 2. I hear a lot of good things about the Civ series but is that difficult for new players? Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks guys!

Civ can be difficult but it also has several difficulty options to help ease you into it. Other than that, there's Starcraft II if that's your thing.

Crusader Kings. It's on sale right now on Steam and there's a quick look of it, I think. (I swear I've seen Drew and Dave playing it. Although, being Drew and Dave, maybe I just imagined them playing a crazy PC strategy game.)

X-Com should be out sometime this summer.

Civilization 5 is great and very accessible. None of the other Civ games have Mac ports, but on GOG.com, you can get a copy of Alpha Centauri that works with OS X.

XCOM is already available on the mac app store if you're not willing to wait. there's also an open source XCOM clone, based on the older games here that i can't recommend enough. otherwise i recommend FTL and frozen synapse, two of my favourite strategy games, both very different

@chaosdent: civ 4 is totally on os x!

Indeed, and it is on offer on Steam every other week. You can pick it up along with all the expansions for a really good price usually.

Endless Space is also on Mac. There is a quick look on the site as well, but It can be a bit intimidating to start with.

Ticket to ride is fantastic. It's a boardgame rather then flat out strategy, but brilliant online with other players. Really cut throat.

Indie darling/fan favourite FTL is also available.

Frozen Synapse is an excellent tactical turn based strategy. It's another that you'll find on offer regularly.

Finally in my own Steam library is an old favourite - Defcon Everybody Dies. It's getting on a bit now, but still worth a look.
