Take that! Feels like forever since I last played an Ace Attorney game, I've got high hopes for this one.

As much as I love me some PW (and its music), Pokemon will continue to own my soul for at least another couple of weeks. If I can manage to get this competitive team up and running, it may last even longer. Er--

Looking back on it now, I only managed to finish the first PW game back in the day. I remember starting up the second one, but I heard tales of some Apollo Justice cat and that just killed my enthusiasm.

Ace Attorney is one of my favourite game series. They have their flaws, but they are just so charming!

There actually is voice acting in this one, but not throughout, thankfully. The voices are decent, but I'm definitely not in love with them enough to want to hear the whole game voiced. Especially since they would basically need spot-on perfect delivery to not fuck up the writing in these games.

@zeik: VLR was fully voiced with good voice acting and that game is a hundred times smaller than phoenix wright.

Bad timing ... it's sandwiched between Pokemon and Zelda ALBW. In January I'll get it ... but probably not before.

Coincidentally have three days off work starting tomorrow, so I'm gonna play the fuck outta that anime lawyer simulator.

I feel less motivated to get this since they never released AAI2. Maybe in the future if the price drops.

I don't know why that would matter that much. This is not a sequel to that game.

@tblockkiller: If you want to experience AAI2, you can watch the full translated walkthrough on Youtube. It's apparently really good; much better than AAI. Also, there's the fan translation rom hack that is currently a work in progress with the first two cases being completed.

I wouldn't let the unavailability of an official release of a spin-off title turn me off of the first entry in the main series in 5 years.

Kind of want to pick this up, but the only Phoenix Wright game I finished was the first DS game (but I loved it). Should I go back and play some of the other games in the series before I pick this up?

Absofuckinglutely. I love the Ace Attorney games. I've played the demo like ten times and I'm chomping at the bit here.

I will eventually. It's been years since I played them and I never got around to Apollo Justice, so maybe I'll blaze through all of them with a FAQ to catch up. I played the demo and it seemed cool.

Yeah, I'm replaying the old games (up to the fourth case on Trials & Tribulations right now), and while I still love the characters and the music, the gameplay definitely has always had its issues.

• Getting stuck during the investigation sequences when you don't realize that there's one piece of evidence that you need to present to a particular person to make things move forward.
• During the courtroom sequences, when you know what the contradiction is with the testimony, but it's unclear which piece of evidence you need to present on which statement to get things moving down that path.
• The occasional courtroom segments where you have to do a series of things exactly correct or else you get an instant game over and have to redo a bunch of stuff.

That being said, once I finish Apollo Justice, I'll definitely be downloading this new game.

I had more issues with the pixel hunting than presenting evidence. Worse comes to worse you just present everything to everyone (and you'll often get unique dialogue anyway), but there's nothing worse than missing a piece of evidence in the environment because it's not obvious and then you have to go and scour every inch of every location until you find what you missed.

It's not releasing at midnight; it's releasing when the eShop normally updates which is at 9:00 AM PDT.

@themathlete: Typically only first-party Nintendo titles get midnight eShop releases.

Attitudes like this are why we can't have nice things. We're honestly lucky to be getting this game in any capacity, given Capcom's low level of faith in Ace Attorney in the western market.

As much as I want to, fuck Nintendo and their digital services. I only have two 3DS system transfers left, and I'm not losing shit that I've paid for if for some unseen reason in the future my system stops working. Their insistence on staying in the past with regards to unified account systems makes me NEVER want to get ANYTHING from them digitally even though I love PW to no end.

Wait... the eShop says the game is rated M, was there ever a Phoenix Wright game rated M?

If it's out in Europe I'm getting it.

So, I haven't played Phoenix Wright since the first two. I thought they were quite good, if a tad short and clunky. Would you recommend jumping back in? And do you think it is worth $30?
