A friend of mine got a YLOD on his orignal 60 gb model with bc. He's sending it in for repairs and i'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about repeat failure rates in repaired ps3s. I know it is not uncommon for multiple RRODs in 360s, but was wondering if anyone knew something about it on ps3s

i would say he most likely won't get  his original back. don't worry about YLOD as it is very small problem that happens.

The YLOD shouldn't even have a name.  
It's such a rare occurrence that it's just a standard failure rate for any electronic on the market. 
But yeah, you shouldn't have to worry about it at all.  
Just make sure you dust the fans (with a vacuum, not a blow dryer) once in a while and do a bi-monthly checkup on it.

My PS3 console bricked with a rental disk inside, 5 months out of warranty, SONY were great, repaired it for free, let me keep the HDD and gave me back the disk scratch free, 
 
They have earned a good future customer because of it, My old 360 on the other hand, well, it's in the trash as Microsoft declined to fix it.  
 
They have lost a customer, I only use their Software begrudgingly as it's user friendly. and I can't be arsed to get a mac, PC's do not concern me much.
