My friend has a 60GB PS3 and for some reason his hard drive would say he has less than 500 MB left after only having no more then 4 games installed on it, and he only has 1 downloadable game. This happened before, and he already reformatted it, but it's been happening again. Anyone know what's causing this? I've search the HD up and down and can't figure it out.

Does it show up when he wants to play a game? I had the same problem with Ratchet & Clanck.

The solution is to download something that's approximatly 500 mb (like a demo).

I highly doubt all his saved games can equate to 20+ GB, since he doesn't even play as much as I do.

It just pops up every chance it gets. We've stopped it temporarily by just deleting the games he doesn't play anymore but we need a better solution. "

Not saved games, but the game utility. Some games can take over 4GB's of install just to play it off the disc... "

The loading time data can be installed on the harddrive and it takes like a gig or 2 with most games (5 gigs for RE5 which is fucking crazy).Videos are pretty big too.

Installs could be taking a lot of space.

Heres a solution. Go on newegg and order a bigger hard drive and plug that into the PS3.

is he trying to play prototype? cause they said there was that problem

Back up the saved games, and go from scratch.

I think this must be a bug of some sort. Have you tried downloading or transfering data above 500 MB? If it still allows it, it should be a bug. Or trydownloading and installing a demo

i upgraded my 60 gb to a 250 gb for like $30. Just do that.

where'd you buy your hard drive? Just wondering cause I'm currently looking for a hard drive for my ps3 and although I'd like 320GB and upwards, 30 bucks for a 250 GB is a pretty good deal. "
