So it seems like this new policy is to detract from game sharing, where one person buys the content and shares his/her PSN with friends so they can download the content on their PS3 or PSP. Here is a link to the full post.

We’d like to inform you of some upcoming changes to the usage policies for PlayStation Network game content. As of November 18, 2011, the number of devices that can be activated on one PlayStation Network account for game content purchased from the PlayStation Store will be updated as follows:

For game content purchased after November 18, 2011, a new policy will apply and the number of devices that can be activated will be as follows:

    • PS3: Users will be able to play the game on up to 2 activated PS3 systems.
    • PSP: Users will be able to play the game on up to 2 activated PSP systems.

Please note that this update will not affect game content purchased before November 18. The PSP rights include PSP-1000/2000/3000 series as well as the PSPgo system.

PlayStation Network users are able to change the activation setting through each device, and Sony Computer Entertainment plans to provide a new PlayStation Network account management website where users will be able to deactivate particular devices attached to their PlayStation Network account via their PC.

This doesn't effect me, I only have 2 PS3s and I really only use one for Move games and blu-rays, but I can see it effecting the Giant Bomb guys as they are likely to go from PS3 to PS3 for work purposes. Does this effect anyone else?

It would only affect me if they didn't let you manage your accounts online on some website when they do this. But they posted that they will have some sort of management website set up. I originally had set up my account on a buddies system at launch just to see what happened, and "deleted" it instead of "deactivating" it. So i lost an install and had downloaded some games to try there. So if it locked it to 2 game downloads or activations and didn't let me go back at some point and delete my profile off his for good (which right now I cant do, i even called them and they cannot do it), then Id be screwed. But they said its for only new games anyway, so yeah no biggie. Also I had 2 ps3s die so i am on my 3rd, and each of those count as an activation, so you need to make sure to delete your account off of those or make sure Sony does it for you. Otherwise even with my 1 PS3 I would be on my 4rth activation, as it is I am on #2 still right now.

no more sharing your d/l's with everyone! Just your closest, and thats it! I like how they will be setting up an online deactivation center, for all the dead ps3's. My brother and I share map pack purchases and other PSN things. So the two rule is ok for me. Unless your into the PSP's and Vita thing. I recommend not worrying about getting any portable game thingy. Cell phone's are the new portable gaming thingy! And they keep getting faster, stronger, better. Like the HTC rezound (ICS only), you can hook up a game pad to the phone, then use the HDMI out to the TV and play HD games, LoL. Sorry for long post.....

Fine with me. It sucks that this may somehow affect legitimate users, but I say fuck all those cheap motherfuckers who've been abusing the system.

I have stuck by Sony since the Walkman. Through thick and thin even through the PSN outage & 4 YLODs, I stuck up for them. But this is BULLSHIT!!!!! I own two system one for me and one for my wife. Now I have already maxed out my profile. What happens when I get my 5th YLOD? I have to spend another 2 hours on the phone with a Sony rep? FUCKING BULLSHIT I SAY!!!!!!!!!! BTW I have never shared my profile on a system I did not buy.

Fair enough. I only ever gamed the system to allow my little brother to download DLC and stuff I may of already bought (and vice versa) so we can keep up to date on certain games, or just play some online coop - downloadable style.

Doesn't effect me either, but ten years from now we're all going to be kicking ourselves about the state of the industry because of all the pills we swallowed under the "Doesn't effect me" rule.

These things all effect somebody and slowly but surely I can guarantee you that  they're going to get to those things that effect ME and YOU.

I prefer Microsoft's stance on this. Your content is linked to one console and to one account. You can use the content offline on the console and to use the content on any other xbox you need to be signed into Xbox Live with the account. Works perfectly.
