Haven't been a Playstation gamer since the PS2 (Vita doesn't count) and just got an unexpected tax refund of $200.

Already have a 4K TV.

My question is this. Been out of the PS loop a long time, what are THE games I need to play?

So far I've got Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted series, Yakuza series, Nioh.

I think you're good to go. Just enjoy the games you have for the several hundred hours they have to offer.

Then get Nier perhaps? FFXV was ok too. Bloodborne if you're into Dark Souls-y stuff. Titanfall 2 is great on all platforms. There's also an EA sale going on, so if you're into sports get FIFA, Madden or NHL 17.

So many good PS4 out now... so little time...

Do you have an Xbox One or a gaming PC? If not, that would open up a ton of recommendations.

Either way, I'd suggest Until Dawn. It's a little on the short side, but it's quite good. Maybe wait for a sale.

And if you didn't own a PS3, I'd also highly recommend the PS4 version of The Last of Us.

If you're getting a PS Plus Subscription, be sure to do so before March 7th, if you'd be interested grabbing a copy of Little Big Planet 3. You'll need to add any February games to your account before the 7th, in order to claim them. Speaking of PS Plus, here are the games for the current month and the next:

Speaking of which, if you do get Plus, be sure you add all six games to your account after their available on the first Tuesday of every month. Even if you don't own a PS3 or Vita, you can still collect loads of games for those consoles, should you ever decide to buy one later on. If your subscription lapses, you won't be able to play any of your PS Plus games until you renew. Still, it's a great way to try a lot of different games, and if you want to play multiplayer beyond free-to-play games, a Plus account will be required anyway.

@spaceinsomniac: I do have an Xbox One and have been primarily an Xbox gamer since the PS2. Never owned a PS3 either though.

I was exclusively a 360 owner, until MS revealed the Xbox One to be always online. Of course, that didn't really happen, but the forced Kinect still caused me to go PS4 for this generation. I still don't own an Xbox One, but at least that console has come a long way since launch. Depending on the specs, I might even pick up a Scorpio sometime in the future.

Persona 5 in 3 weeks or so will be good if you are into JRPG.

I like that For Honor.. If you don't have a PC that'll run it, the PS4 Pro version looks damn good.

Some PSVR games also look really good on the Pro compared to the OG.

I'm in the same boat, bought the PS4 pro recently and went through all the must have exclusives and PS3 stuff I missed. Bought uncharted 4, last of us, until dawn, ratchet and clank, infamous second son, horizon, beyond two souls/heavy rain bundle, blood borne and Odin sphere.

I think I'll be set for awhile. I'll wait on Nioh.

I like threads like these; reminds me of the old forum days. Or maybe I'm just riding this coffee high. Lots of great recommendations in this thread. I will add Doom to that list since it hasn't been mentioned yet, provided you haven't played it elsewhere.
