    Having trouble signing in to old PSN account - help needed!

    So I'm trying to help out a friend get his PS3 hooked up to PSN again, as he has had trouble with it for a while and just hasn't bothered fixing it. So after fixing some other things for him we try to sign in with his old account (which is valid, because I can log in with it on sony's website) but it says that we are not allowed to sign in with another user's id. Now he is pretty sure that the account we are using is the main account he's always had, so it should work. Is there any way to check what system account the PSN ID is attached to and recover it if it has been lost somehow? Thanks!
