So the Sony has released their list of downloadable games for the download-only PSP Go.  The game list is somewhat extensive and made me wonder how pricing compared to the current UMD versions of the games.  Using Google's Shopping search, I looked up each game and found the cheapest NEW game I could find, usually including tax (if any) and shipping.  I didn't include shipping for games sold at Walmart because everyone in the US has a Walmart within 10 minutes of their home.  This is how it breaks down as of today (October 1st).  In some cases, the PSP downloadable game is cheaper, but in many of the games currently being offered, consumers can find the same game delivered to their door for less money.  This is not meant to be advertising for any of the game stores listed but to highlight the price differences between games available for the PSP Go and those on the UMD format.  Games with a "!" are cheaper than their Playstation Store counterpart.

Personally, I believe the price of the PSP Go is way over priced right now, but I am sure that will change with time.  However, if Sony doesn't find a way for gamers who own PSP UMD games to transfer their games to the Go, I can't see why anyone would choose to pick up one of these handhelds.  But, I am still sure that the system will have decent sales initially because it is new, shiny and sexy.

The store is actually selling games for reasonable prices in most cases. Sony is doing things right for once, have you looked at the prices of Microsofts digital game downloads? They're ridiculous, and they only sell the outdated games.

Yeah, Sony's pricing is great with PSN, and you can't expect them to undercut every single store out there. My current PSP is low on memory, and I hate having to carry it around, so I have a feeling I'll sell it and get a Go! sometime relatively soon.
