So as we all know, the first iteration of the Vita won't have a mini-HDMI out, as many were hoping. My guess is that the decision was either a cost cutting measure, an attempt to prevent cannibalization of the PS3, or (most likely) both. Here's a possible solution though. What if the PSV was able to stream gameplay to a PS3, in much the same way that the PS3 is able to stream games to the PSP (and soon PSV)?
A) It wouldn't make the PSV more expensive
B) It wouldn't invite cannibalization as a PS3 is still required
C) It would increase the synergy between the two platforms (which seems to be what Sony is going for)
In addition, there would be other perks as the PSV wouldn't have to waste cycles upscaling the image (this would be the PS3's job) and the PS3 could even do some additional processing like MLAA to clear up the jaggies that would surely manifest themselves on a bigscreen TV.
The only problem I foresee would be the massive drain on the PSV's battery, but this point is moot, because you're right next to the PS3 (for USB charging).
Not likely to happen, I know, but what do you guys think?
