Oh man, I hadn't heard of Samantha before this but she is super awesome! I hope she's here more often.

Also I love how Dan is confused by long words <3

I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated Samantha on the podcast. I hope you get her back again soon. She was great.

Samantha seems like a neat person and she fit in well with the group.

I hope Feeding Dan actually ends up being a thing.

Mayonnaise on fries sounds disgusting though.

Most interesting podcast in a while. Great conversations and great people.

Great episode. I can understand people being angry though after listening to the whole thing. I mean as a man I will say that Dan's beliefs on food is shameful. I can't agree with it and no argument in the world will convince me otherwise.

This was a really fun bombcast. Some of the best recently. Well done Brad, Dan, Drew and Sam.On the topic of bacterial content in food - there is a world of difference between milk and feces (E. Coli is no joke), so even a not pussy like Jeff might have to watch out drinking from that pool, although it's true that statistically it's fine.

Also, hopefully Dan will try some different food - he might even enjoy it!

I just wanted to comment on @rorie's Gattaca and Mad Max analogy in the forum thread.

Ethan Hawke.

That'll be all.

The Feeding Dan idea was brilliant. I was all-round thrilled by this installment of the Bombcast--Samatha brought some good conversation to the table, Brad held down the host chair admirably again (which he also did very well on last week's UPF), and there was some good poop talk.

Always a fan of some good poop talk.

There was even some good discussion about GaymerX2 and all the positives that come out of that sort of a diverse space. Dan is starting to settle into his role a bit more and seems more and more comfortable going back and forth with the rest of the crew, Drew busted out a reference to Extreme G (which I played the shit out of) further endearing him to me forever, and Brad made some great email decisions. I'd be pretty pleased if bringing guests on to the Bombcast became a more regular thing.

Samantha was an interesting guest on the podcast. She came off very knowledgeable (especially in regards to the Unity engine), and just with gaming in general. Felt like she just clicked into the room and things meshed well together. (Despite the DOTA....jk). I wonder if she would be another "friend of the site" much like Zoe Quinn (aka more guest appearances in future things).

Nervous or not, @brad is a really fun host.

Great podcast. And after hearing Dan's history with food, I think there's a new reason to send stuff to the staff. For example, mayonnaise.

  • Brad was a great host (again)
  • Samantha was a great guest
  • Should've had a 5-person bombcast so that Jason could talk about EVO, disappointed that EVO talk only went as far as the game announcements and Samantha picking up on the Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament being won by a Rose player. I fully expect Brad to go in on TI4 talk next week as deeply as Jason could've done on EVO.

One of my favourite Bombcasts for a while! Samantha is definitely one of my favourite guests in a while, with respects to how she meshed with the crew, and how knowledgable/personable she seems.

And I support the "Let's Feed Dan Things" feature idea! As a kind of Englishman, the idea of never having eaten a baked potato is just so odd to me. But, after living in LA for a while, I've come to accept that the eating habits of Americans will always leave me mildly baffled.

Here's hoping! There aren't many regulars who can shoot the shit about game dev and obscure N64 games one minute and get weird like only Giant Bomb can the next.

If you guys do a Big Live Live Show, you should have a segment where Dan eats a bunch of stuff he's never tried.

Thanks for coming on the show Samantha!

@gregorygold: I'm American and the idea of never having eaten a baked potato is still odd. Probably not as odd as not having ketchup until age 25 though.

@teaoverlord: ah! I shouldn't assume Dan represents All Americans. Silly of me.

Maybe baked potatoes are more of a milder-climate-centric snack? Whereabouts in the US are you from? Isn't Dan from Minnesota? It's cold there, right?

We need a premium podcast with Jeff and Dan just talking about all the food they hate.

Edited by DazzHardy

Oh god, having Dan on the podcast is the best, 10 minutes in and I get an "He did it for The Rock!" :D

With Gallagher-styled hammering, if at all possible.

@gregorygold: I'm in upstate New York. I don't think it's as cold as Minnesota, but it's still pretty cold here. Baked potatoes seem like a good winter food since they're always like a billion degrees.

Feeding Dan is a fine idea for a premium feature, but the name needs more pizzazz. Check this out:

ENCYCLOFEEDIA DANTASTICA

Yes, I know I am a genius. Thank you.

And I love how filthy the Bradcasts keep ending up. Keep it up, @brad

@teaoverlord: Haha, yes! Baked Potato stands aren't uncommon in the North of England, and I have many a memory of visiting them for a big, hotter-than-the-sun-spud. I lost the skin from the roof of my mouth from eating them too quickly pretty much everytime.

In the Paper, Scissors, Stone of life, Greed beats Common Sense everytime.

This place gets weird some times. Reminds me of that Skeptics Guide to the Universe a few months ago when they got a lot of complaints about one of their hosts being biased and only talking about female scientists in her "this week in science history" segment, which resulted in them checking the stats and seeing that only 13% of that segment throughout the previous year had been about female scientists.

Ironic, given how much SGU talks about confirmation bias.

I miss my Jeff, Vinny, Brad, Ryan, and Patrick casts. :(

I can understand the need to expand, but what made GB so cool was these people working *together,* that chemistry. Now everyone has been scattered and it's all good, but not *great* anymore. Sigh.

Good bombcast. I don't understand how Dan is a real person.

Posted by figurehead00

Great Bombcast! Brad really is a great host. And Samantha, what a fantastic guest! She clicked with the group and seems like she would be down to talk games for hours. I'm also pretty interested in checking her game out, it sounds really cool. Another successful Tuesday!

Dan is a really quirky guy, but almost impossible not to like.

Quality podcast all in all. I enjoyed the variety of topics covered.

He isn't, he is a replicant or something and I'm trying to get to the bottom of this.

Yeah, I do hope that they figure out a way to increase the interaction between the various offices. Giant Bomb may be admittedly personality driven, but it isn't just that. It is the interaction between the personalities that always made for great content.

I found this one very entertaining and funny. Samantha seems very kind and knowledgeable. Bring her back anytime. Sentris sounds interesting.

I am not sure whether Dan only teases the "What is this (insert anything else than cheese and meat) you speak of!" or not but he is quite manic and entertaining. I personally believe he holds a PHD in philosophy and just fucks with our minds...!

Posted by Ford_Dent

@galacticpunt: Oh god DAMN this name is perfect, now it has to happen.

Edited by CharAznable

I love you and your weird food stuff, Dan. I can relate to stubbornly resisting food items for no good goddamn reason. I just ate my first salad a few months ago at the age of 29. Keep it up.

We need more Rorie on the podcast, fellas. Always more Rorie.

Really enjoyed this one! Samantha almost charmed me to death. That quiet "Hadouken" made my day.

i personally am more hyped than i've been recently (though i'm pretty happy with everything GB's done so far) but i do remember talk about jeff doing more big-budget things or things where they travel and meet up so you may see them all come together more often than not now. time will tell.

Edited by Mister_V

Really fun episode. Not normally a huge fan of guests but Samantha was a really good one.

Also it amazes me that Giant Bomb has hired the only person in the games industry with weirder food habits than Jeff. Dans taste of the week defiantly has to become a feature.

Feeding Dan sounds like a great idea. Even just an occasional segment on UPF would be enough.

Posted by cthomer5000

Dan's food issues make Jeff look like some sort of super-taster food critic extraordinaire.
