So with all of Nintendo's talk about how Black/White is "revamping" the series, I was just wondering what other fans of the series were hoping for in this generation. Personally I'm really hopeful that they change up the eight-gyms-and-then-elite-four lineage of past titles. Also I hope they can streamline everything about item management. Throw in some sorting options, make it easier to sell items en masse, etc etc.
I was also hoping they might mix up the types of the starter pokemon, but I guess that's not going to happen.
Pokémon Black/White
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Mar 06, 2011
Pokémon Black and White are the fifth generation of Pokémon games for the Nintendo DS. Both introduce several new game play innovations to the series including a more complex battle system, fully-animated 3D models and environments, extensive online integration, and a refresh of the entire selection of Pokémon.
Your hopes for this game?

"I hope they in fact change the game. Im sick of the gyms and elite four used over and over and over. Gold and silver did a nice thing adding both areas...
I'm hoping that this is the game that completely ignores all of the previous Pokemon. Don't spend time on giving old Pokemon new evolutions, work on the new ones and make them unique. What ruined D/P for me was all of the new evolutions that required you to look at a guide because they couldn't be bothered to tell you in-game what item you need them to hold.
I love these games but I never bothered playing them online, so maybe they can make MP better and more functional.

Here is my hope for the game, I hope they give Flareon a decent moveset to take advantage of having the highest attack stat out of the Eeveelutions. Seriously dude...not even Flare Blitz?
Other than that I could go into a fairly large list of changes and things I'd like to see. But one thing is I hope they don't overly change the battle system. I know they should change a lot of it, but I don't want any random chance bs (I'm lookin' at you crits) or button mashing crap.

"I agree, the game needs more explanation on a lot of different levels. My problem with the newer games was how hard it is to tell what type some pokemon are. Anyone knows what type flareon is, or wartortle, or pidgey, etc etc. But what about bronzong? Or Gallade? Or manaphy? There should be some way to check on what type these things are.

He has a high attack, but the only attack type move he's gotten (so far, I'm level 45 right now) is razor leaf. Other than that it's hard to take advantage of his awesome attack.

"Well that has been a problem in all the games. You don't know your opponent's typing and you can't check. Also unless you actually caught to Pokemon, you can't check the typing on the Dex. DPPt kinda helped in game by having a Poketch app, which would show which attacks were 2x or 4x super effective or resistant but you couldn't use it in battle....I guess that makes sense, because by now I'm pretty sure I can name 90% of the typing without too much hassle, but still it couldn't hurt to have the info.
I don't know. How about they move past the same 15 year old design concepts that the series has been founded upon since its inception? And since I am saying things that obviously won't happen now, how about individual skill trees for each pokemon instead of just learning moves, an actual acknowledgment of all the weird hidden systems that the games have (EVs, IVs and so forth.) and an actual story mode that doesn't follow the 8 Gym Leaders-Elite 4 structure. Oh, and graphic violence.
Here are a few things that would be nice.
- Streamlining some of the stuff would be nice. Easier menus to navigate, etc.
- Have the type chart on the bottom screen during battles or somewhere that's nice and convenient.
- Make your bag easier to navigate and organize.
- Make the battles go faster. Some times it feels like battles will last forever.
- I would like to see some new types. Since Gold and Silver, there hasn't been a new type.
- This probably wont be in the game, but carrying more then 6 Pokemon at a time would be nice.
- Make organizing the Pokemon boxes a lot easier to do.
- Make trading Pokemon easier to do, especially when importing Pokemon from the older games.
- Some kind of Item Dex would be nice. Show where the items can be bought, etc.
- They probably wont do it, but get rid of friend codes for the online.
Actually I think I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum with this one. I think they should consolidate some of the types so that it's easier to identify what type a pokemon is/have more moves a pokemon's can get stab from/simplify things. Bug/grass, ground/rock, dark/ghost for starters. There's nothing more frustrating than thinking a pokemon is dark-type, and using a fight-type move, only to find out when it doesn't do shit that it's a ghost-type." While I don't really like contests, I think they should give players the option of becoming either a coordinator or a trainer. And make the battle frontiers more enjoyable, I mean, you have to battle like 20 people and gain no kind of experience fighting them before meeting up with the frontier brain. It sucks, they should make the Battle Frontier more like gyms.
