Games I grew up with (in no particular order)

This is a list of games I played while I was 3 until I was about 12-13.  It's not in any particular order.  I've just listed some games that I remember from my childhood (and that have perhaps made me who I am today...)

List items

  • One of my first ever gaming experiences (if not THE first). I loved the Dizzy series back in the day. An egg with arms and legs...if anyone suggested that these days, they'd probably be laughed out the office...

  • I remember Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy well. I can still hear the 8-bit renditions of 'Blue Danube' and 'If I Were A Rich Man' clearly in my head.

  • One of my first Amiga games. One bit I especially remember is the bit where he's on a speedboat and his eyes go up and down. It was a simple animation, but I found it really funny.

  • An absolute classic (as I'm sure most people would agree). 'Is that a banana in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?'.

  • I remember playing this at my cousins' house (I didn't have a Master System or Mega Drive myself). The music sends shivers down my spine. Great times, great times...

  • My first experience with the Championship Manager series (now Football Manager). I've been hooked ever since. I usually play as my beloved Everton, but I sometimes play as a non-league side and try to take them to glory.

  • As far as branded games go (the game was tied with Quavers here in the UK), I found it a lot of fun. My dad and I had a lot of fun trying to figure out where to put the dominoes.

  • The best standard FIFA game ever, in my opinion (feature-wise). It took EA 12 years (yes, 12 YEARS) to release another game with ALL the international teams (2010 FIFA World Cup).

  • Oh, the fun my brother and I had with this game. Ever tried shrinking an enemy down with the 'Shrink Ray' before they went into a small area, then watching them come out all stretched? That was one of the many things we got up to...

  • I've played this game in various forms over the course of my life (from school computers to the PSN version). I'm pretty sure Lemmings has taken months of my life away from me.

  • I used to play this at an arcade. I was in absolute stiches whenever the guy went "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!". For that reason alone, I have fond memories of it.

  • I used to play this at the arcade pretty much every weekend back in the early 90s (in a town called Benllech, if you must know). I nearly always played as Bison or Blanka (purely because their attacks looked cool).

  • Another classic. I remember restarting the levels even if just one of my men died (as I wanted to see my men reach the highest rank). To quote the game, 'War has never been so much fun'.
