i jumped to Windows Phone back when it was still WP7 after I had both an iPad 2 and IPhone 4. I just got incredibly tired of Apple home screens, and the Lumia 800 called to me. I've stuck around.

I'm still interested in trying Android out at some point, and I think that Sony and LG are making the devices most likely to snag me as a user, but I won't be going back to Apple.

I have both of them, plus the Wii U.

My problem with PC gaming, and that lead-in to this sentence sounds more inflammatory than I mean it to, but my problem is that while I know I can make a PC that can objectively run games better than either console and from there it's fantastic with cheaper game prices, I lack the restraint to buy a middle of the road graphics card. And if I go on a website to select parts, I'm going to be drawn to the biggest and best of everything. That isn't so much a problem with PC as it is with me, but it's why I don't want to go down that rabbit hole. I just know myself. Too many options.

For that reason, I'm sticking to the consoles for the foreseeable future. Each individual is going to have their own questions about whether the two consoles we're talking about here have enough compelling differences to own both, and I guess at the moment that's still a tough decision. If you're using Console A for multi-platform games for whatever reason, does Console B have enough unique to warrant buying it as well? Everybody has different thresholds.

Clean shaven is your strength. I've definitely seen worse efforts from friends of the same age as you after a month (usually around Movember) but at the same time I don't know how much improvement you can expect if you keep growing.

If anybody is feeling particularly generous, I'd really appreciate an invite to the program as well.

@karkarov: You're absolutely right. About the losing E3 part. That doesn't exist. I disagree about Microsoft's exclusives, but that's such a subjective thing. I can't make you enjoy the games exclusive to Xbox.

For me, the Sony conference showing The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII and Shenmue 3 meant that a large portion of their conference was just nothing to me, but it'd be stupid to suggest Sony lost E3 because I personally don't care about those remakes/sequels. They were legitimately big announcements which will make a lot of people happy, but I have no connection to those franchises. At the same time, I'm tentatively excited about getting my hands on Horizon, and I'll be picking up every Uncharted game they release. No Man's Sky and Firewatch are definitely on my list as well.

While I think the Microsoft exclusives were stronger, and there were significantly more games I want to play showcased at Microsoft's conference, not everyone is going to think the same. People need to stop acting as if there's some objective metric by which to claim a victory.

You're creating a strawman to suggest the only reason that Microsoft faced backlash is now something Sony is getting a pass on. What I think you're trying to say is that Sony received praise for their a la carte model of channel subscription (which they deserve, by the way, the current model is shithouse) while Sony made some easy points over Microsoft during E3 a few years ago by suggesting their console was only for games, making it seem like people were opposed to Microsoft's push towards Xbox being the "one" device you'd need in your lounge including their support for media.

I don't think that's the case. Sure, people seemed happy when Sony played that card, but that appeared to be mostly schadenfreude for Microsoft attempting to implement some of their online policies. Not every prospective PS4-buyer was opposed to Microsoft implementing TV functionality, they may just have bought the PS4 because it fit them better, as a professed gaming machine, and PS View is now a nice additional feature of that console that they bought for other reasons. Some people presumably bought the console they felt was going to have a focus into the future that aligned with their wishes, and any added features on the side are bonuses.

Beyond that, it was basic console wars stuff. People using whatever angle they could to justify one purchase over another. You'll see it here with people claiming either console manufacturer had the better E3 conference, as if a list of exclusives could objectively demonstrate one console is a better than another. It wouldn't matter if Console X had 30 exclusives and Console Y had 3, if you're interested in all of Console Y's games and only one of Console X's. I can say I prefer the Xbox One, and preferred the Microsoft conference and the games announced there, but the second you or I try talking in absolutes as if one conference was objectively better than the other, you just end up inciting anger.

You shouldn't bother attempting to point out hypocrisy in either group of console fans. There is no such thing as two cohesive groups each with the same message. There are multiple broad collections of people with individual differing opinions, which makes any characterisation of either group's statements useless. You don't have to be a hypocritical PS4 owner to appreciate features which some other PS4 owners felt they didn't need.

@grixxel: Guess I'm getting a PS4 after all. Yes, I'm part of the problem. :|

You needn't worry (unless you actually want a PS4). The game wasn't announced as being exclusive to PS4, and we can assume that omission means it's at least releasing on Xbox One, and probably on PC. Smart of Sony to organise the announcement during the PS4 conference, plenty are now linking the game to the console, but no such relationship was established.

I've read elsewhere that a previous FF game was advertised as console exclusive (I don't follow the series and only just picked up a PS4 so I can't give more information than that), which would mean them failing to call this a console exclusive means that it isn't. Exception that proves the rule and all that.
