Gaming needs a site like this!

Its a brilliantly designed website, yes the forums are a little unorganized but saying that is being picky. Its like pointing out that the interior of a Aston martin isnt real leather. Its a really great site!

E3 2008 - My Views

E3 2008 has just finished and i feel a little dissappointed by it. Ever since they stopped opening it to the public developers and publishers have stopped announcing all the cool stuff now and tend to wait for Leipzig or Tokyo. Also i used to love reading peoples experiances whilst at the show about what they saw, played and heard. We now have to wait for the press to tell us in a less exciting way.
       Right back to the core point, what are my views of this years E3. I found the microsoft press conference started brilliantly with the demos of Fallout 3 and Resident Evil 5. Then Fable being announced as "finished". I got so excited only to be shown Gears 2 gameplay, it was amazing. Then it started to go slightly downhill pretty much all the way. I must admit the new 'Xbox Experiance' has grown on me and was fitting for the show, its just the amount of time spent talking about the casual games they are bringing to the xbox. I felt like i was watching the nintendo conference(never a good thing). I understand the point of casual games and why they should be made but to dwell on them for so long did deflate the whole excitement that we felt at the beginning of the conference. Luckily it was saved by Square Enix who announced FFXIII for the xbox 360 along with the other games they stated. Overall a good conference just it was a bit stale in the middle, which leaves me asking;

             Why did they not show the new halo project trailer!?! It would have been more exciting than You're in the Movies!

    Now its time for the Sony conference. Alls i have to say is Resistance 2 looks great and the video shown of that massive creature roaming through the streets was exciting, i sure do hope my mate will buy it for his Playstation 3. Killzone 2 looks great as well, just the thing with that game is that i wish they wouldn't show it off so much, i don't want to be desensitized to its amazing visuals. Then they got onto the figures as companies must do which i don't really care much for. However i did find Sony's approuch really good using Little Big Planet. A game that excites me for its innovation. Also news of God of War 3 was very good to hear, well see really. Then there was the announcement and trailer of MAG which left me wondering 'is this actually possible?'. I really do hope it is, it could be one of the best multiplayer games that will be released. I felt like the microsoft conference it was good just a bit stale in the middle as well. The thing is i don't want to hear about the Playstation 2 anymore its been and gone, i dont know why they drop it now. Its time to let the Playstation 3 have its day rather than spending more money on an old system thats really showing its age now.
        The Nintendo conference i didnt even bother watching, after the E3 2007 show it just didn't feel worth it. I knew what to expect. More games aimed at my grandmother. More cooking guides for my mother and games that are designed to be very hollow and easy. Nintendo may have hit the mass market well and have had big success but they dont have lasting appeal. Their games feel all samey and take about 15 minutes to get bored of. They are going to need a new console very soon and i hope they give more attention to the hardcore game next time.
