The Metroid series celebrates its 25th birthday this year and while not the most high profile series in Nintendo's repertoire it does feature some of the most genre defining gameplay elements and plot twists (Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time) in gaming history.

The good folks over at All Your History have compiled a very comprehensive history of the series. Covering all the Metroid games, it covers both the highs and lows of Samus Aran's adventures in saving the universe. Happy 25th Metroid, hopefully with more games to come!
