amiga1200: Best of 2010

  • Hands down the best game of the year, even though I think many people discount it because it came out so early. Graphics, sound, story, character - everything about ME2 was so sublime it kept me coming back again and again where other games like Red Dead lost me midway. ME2 is the only game I've ever played which made me genuinely worried about my team dying. All that needs said, really.

    Oh, and Miranda. Miranda.

    DLC was great, too.

  • Not really a 'game' but does enough to convince you that it is. Look past the sketchy voice acting and suddenly you realise that you care about what's happening. Tons of atmosphere and a decent enough twist in the killer's identity.

  • Played the demo, immediately bought the game, finished it in one sitting. Regret nothing! Adorable throughout.

  • I don't like RTS games. Yet I played the SC2 campaign from start to finish and had a whale of a time. Blizzard goodness all the way.

  • Too many bus journeys, too many random pig deaths caused by toppling things that I didn't quite intend but cried out 'Yeah!' all the same. Still playing today.

  • Didn't wow me quite as much as everyone else but artistically this game is incredible. A must-play for its atmosphere alone.

  • Utterly dumb, lots of fun. The only game I've ever played where you can grapple on to a jeep, then a helicopter, then another helicopter, then blow both up and paraglide to a zeppelin strip joint. Where you then shoot everyone.

  • A very, very late addition but so far Worgen and cool underwater zones are stealing all my time away. Blizzard does it again.

  • Too linear, characters a bit vague and the story was the worst kind of impenetrably Japanese 'huh?!' but there's still just enough of that old FF magic for this to make the list. Just.

  • I didn't really like the other God of War games, but this was fun. Looks great, too. Shame it crashed a couple of hours before the end and refused to work beyond that ...
