My only real issues with this is that Bethesda is apparently taking a 70% cut of the proceeds, and possible plaigirism. That and the probable buttloads of crap that now cost money.

That's easy to answer, the reason this phenomenon happens is that most people are fucking unintelligent and tend to criticize things they don't understand. Which of course draws the crowd of even more stupid people who don't even have a real opinion. So in order to compensate they tend to gravitate towards negative the criticisms because it makes them feel relevant. Its especially ironic that in this particular game, one of the pervading themes is cognitive dissonance.

Organizations like Paypal are the very reason why I got into crowdfunding in the first place! Suffice to say, I'm never using them again.
