So it seems you don't need a level 70 character to make a death knight. Or is this just for the beta?
What I don't understand is that if the outlands stuff is still used for levelling then how would someone without burning crusade get to the cap of this game? That's right, they won't. Right?
So blizzard is basically giving away a high level char that can't level unless you buy yet another expansion? Because I never got BC.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Nov 13, 2008
Travel to the arctic continent of Northrend in Blizzard's second expansion to the most popular MMORPG ever made.
Instant level 55
For the final release, it will just be deathknights. You will need at least one level 55 character on your account (which is retarded IMO, they should make it 70 or 80). From the info page.

WotLK is the level 71-80+ expansion. It's not like they're making that a secret or trying to trick you into buying it.

EDIT: If you're torn about buying BC, I would just wait. I think once they figure out their pricing scheme BC might be free or cheap, since they want to charge you 40 bucks for Lich King.

Thanks for clearing up the level stuff. It would feel like, if players could create an instant level 55, that blizzard just retconned all the old content...

I saw some beta stuff and it got me re-interested in the game. :)
But I guess you are right, blizzard is sneaky like that and I should just hold of a while and just get BC for cheap. By the time I'm done with that, lich king should be pretty cheap as well.
Have they talked about anything like if you already have a character in the 55 range, could he be turned into a deathknight?
Edit: Hmm, I guess I could actually do that myself right? By deleting my old character and making a new one who looks the same etc. :>
