We all love them. Our worlds are filled with anthropomorphic creatures to do our bidding. Some are cute, some are cuddly, and unfortunately some just need to be hidden away in the cupboard under the stairs, but almost all of them are heroes. These ones truly speak to me.
Sonic is great, and has been for so long, but I have preferred Knuckles ever since he came on the scene. He may not be as fast, but with a more brash nature and the ability to punch through solid rock, he is basically me in an echidna outfit.
The Kongs are possibly the oldest of the anthropomorphic creatures we have, dating back to the original Donkey Kong (now Cranky Kong), they are practically animal royalty.
While Donkey and Diddy; and even Dixie; may be the first ones mentioned by many, there's just no other monkey as kool as Funky.
Conker is a bad-tempered, foul-mouthed, ignorant squirrel who I couldn't rightfully leave off of this list. Conker was the character to single-handedly total Nintendo's reputation as child friendly with the release of Conker's Bad Fur Day. He's a great adventurer with a unique view at problem solving. In the end, who could not choose to have someone on their team whose first thought about incoming fire creatures is "I need to take a leak".
While working with Fox McLeod, Falco is an important member of the StarFox team. He hates taking orders from anyone, especially since he sees them all as inferior. He can fly, shoot, and in the most cases will do pretty damn well, although he can occasionally get himself in a little trouble by taking on more than he can handle.
While all of the Turtles were great, Donatello seemed to have slightly more going for him. He was a genius inventor who created many of the Turtles technology. Because of his weapon of choice; the Bo staff; Donatello had a greater attack range in games, which made him more appealing to me.
The Battletoads were crazy fighters, with some very weird skills, and insane difficulty levels. Although Zitz and Rash looked better (I preferred the green over Pimples brown) Pimple was the biggest and strongest of the trio, making him my favourite of the bunch.
