Top 10 popular/good games I hated

Every now and then a game gets released that is critically acclaimed and popular amongst gamers, but for some reason or another, I can't get around it no matter how hard I try. Here's ten games that I hated the most.

PS. If you think I'm a bad person for this, you're probably right :).

  • Bethesda hater? me? I guess I am and for a reason. Escaping from prison in the beginning is a neat idea, but everything after that falls flat. After a couple hours of atrocious voice acting I turned off those speech sounds and red all the dialogues, it's ten times worse than what Fallout 3 has. One of the things I like in RPG's is that my character starts out with practically no skils at all and by the time I finish that game, my character knows everything and can kill anyone. Oblivion takes all that away and makes leveling up pretty much useless, because everytime you level up, your enemies will become stronger.

I could go on and on about Oblivion and that's why its the worst popular/good game I have played.

  • To be honest, this game isn't terrible, but the reason I hate WoW is because I can't understand how so many people play this game. World of Warcraft has a really big world, a lot of things to do and explore, but it is really, really boring. Some people may like grinding and those "bring 20 wolf pelts to mr. X" -quests, but that is something I will never play.

  • Fallout 3 was a mess. Shooter mechanics in this game are poor, which in itself isn't a problem because it is a role-playing game, but it kinda becomes one once you realise that you need those shooting skills more than you need anything else. So when I made my typical Fallout character (Speech and Science mostly), I quickly realised how useless most of my skill were. One of the things I remember about Fallout is that those games always had great voice acting, but all of that changed when Bethesda got their award-winning robots to do the voice acting.

  • Condemned: Criminal Origins was so amazing. Great creepy atmosphere, suspenful horror/crime story and simplistic yet solid combat system. So what is there in the sequel? Boring and repetitive levels, unnecessarily complicated fighting system, story that makes no sence and did I mention there is multiplayer and its terrible.

  • Prototype was a game I started hating even before it was released. I didn't like the idea of just running around killing hunderds and thousands of innocent people and military with your tentacle hands. Stealth feature got me somewhat exited about this game and eventually I picked it up. Everytime I tried sneaking it ended up with me kiling hundreds of heavily armored military, after a couple hours of dull mindless killing I was ready to trade that game in.

  • I couldn't even write about this game without getting frustrated.

  • Gears of War was really popular, because it was one of the first games to take advantage of what Xbox 360 had. But beyond pretty graphics, there was a short, mediocre single player and poorly made multiplayer mode. Combine all that and you get a game that was one of the most popular 360 games for over two years.

  • This isn't as much about Red Alert 3 as it is about the whole C&C franchise. I've been trying to get into them every now and then, because of their popularity, but I never enjoyed any of them. Only decent one was C&C Generals and even that is only because I love Age of Empires.

  • The only reason people remember this game is nostalgia. Take Resident Evil, replace zombies with dinosaurs and take away the atmosphere and suspense and you get Dino Crisis.

  • I would probably like this game if it weren't for Peter Molyneux and that big mouth of his. After all that hype that Fable got, I got my hands on it and was left unsatisfyed.
