  1. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4

  I know I'm doing it wrong, but this is the game that took up my time and kept me busy throughout the summer of this year. It did come out December...of last year, sure. But considering the attention that it got after it's release, it probably deserves as much attention as any game that came out this year. (Plus, most of the games I bought this year came out last year, or years past)

  Its also the game that made me consider the idea that RPG's don't have to be boring, plodding, melodramatic storylines where all the small moments happen at very opportune moments. This game is nothing but great set pieces, and does a really good job at not wasting the player's time. There is grinding to be had here and there, but they're only small moments apart from the many stories the game has to offer. In a sense, it could very well be a storybook kind of game, where the little choices you make has a little impact on how the game progresses. Plus the characters are quite memorable.

  Theres a lot to be said about this game, but considering the amount of attention the game gets on this website, chances are someone else's insight on the game can convince you that this one is a winner. Both this year and last year.
