10 games I'm looking forward to the most in 2019

2018 report card:

Only three games I was looking forward to from last year actually came out this year (Frozen Synapse 2, Darksiders III, and The Banner Saga 3). So, as it turns out, this year's list is laregly populated by the same games as last year's list.

List items

  • I have barely any clue of what's actually contained in this thing, but everything I've seen from it look cool as shit.

  • I'm still really intrigued by this weird-looking game. And apparently this is now going to be released as both parts together. I don't exactly have high hopes of this coming out next year, but who knows!

  • I really enjoyed the first Doom, well, not the /first/ Doom, but the Doom that was released in 2016 (but also, the first Doom... because that game is incredible).

Ahem, anyway, Doom Eternal looks like a continuation of the Doom 2016 formula. And that's certainly not a bad thing.

  • Yeah, I know it's already 'out' in Early Access, but I actively try to avoid playing games before they are properly released.

  • Maybe this will actually be released this year? I don't know. But I do know that I'm up for more X-Com (with the hyphen) style games.

  • I'm not as interested in this as I would have expected. But I really did love the shit out of Spelunky 2012.

  • My hype for this has died down a little, but I'm still very interested in checking out a modern XCOM (without the hyphen) style game from Julian Gollop.

  • Another tactics game I'm looking forward to. More than anything though, I'm really into its aesthetic.

  • What I really want from a Psychonauts 2 is a game with the outlandish creativity of the original, but with better gameplay. Who knows about the creativity part, but I will be shocked (and probably quite appalled) if they manage to make the gameplay worse...

  • I like Fallout. Pre-Bethesda Fallout, that is. Maybe this will be the polygonal Fallout we deserve. Maybe.
