 Well, there's another layer of dust on my PS3.
 Some of the commenters there think he's bluffing, and there's even believable evidence that Eat Sleep Play has been working on a new TM.
 But it seems odd that he would outright deny its existence instead of a simple "no comment". His talk of the difficulty in designing an original game makes it sound authentic. And I've been convinced for years that Sony has no interest in producing more Twisted Metal games, seeing as how there hasn't been a major one made in almost a decade. I wish that weren't true though.

Folks this is David Jaffe, stopped believing what he said years ago to be honest. Not sure Twisted Metal as the fan power anymore either, but I get the feeling Jaffe might be telling porkies here.

Companies have been known to outright deny things.  Barely a week before Gears 3 had a release date, Cliff Belinski was asked about a release date, and he said "forget about it".

It really doesn't. I know pretty hardcore gamers who can't even tell you what Twisted Metal is.  
 
It's definitely a niche franchise, anymore. Could do with a reboot, I guess, to try and get it going again.

While I have fond memories of playing split-screen with my friends in Twisted Metal 2, I don't know if that kind of gameplay would really stand the test of time.  That said, a Twisted Metal game is supposed to be in the works for the PS3, whether Jaffe would be working on it or not.  I think there was a tease of some kind in association with Twisted Metal: Head-On (Extra Twisted Edition) for PS2.  This game came out a long time ago, so it could just be a situation like the Metroid Dread tease in Metroid Prime 3.  Time will tell I suppose.

How has he lost all relevance when gaming websites quote him constantly?  
 
He's admitted he hasn't had a hit since...what? 2005? The guy knows it.  
 
But then again telling me your opinion on a man I'll never meet is a bit like telling me you have to go to the bathroom.

Well no. Not gaming websites. Kotaku and Joystiq quote him constantly because they have a ridiculous per day article quota and they make articles about literally everything. Also I have to go to the bathroom.

 I'm well aware of the tease in the PS2 version of Head-On; I tend to take coded messages hidden in PSP ports with several very large grains of salt.

It really doesn't matter what he says - they can just change their mind and make another one. It's just when the time is right and when they have the money and development team to do it. There is always the possibility in future when more interest might grow into that genre.

We don't give a shit what that dumpling dick does, Twisted Metal is making a return on the Playstation 3 relatively soon. I'll personally bring it to E3 if I have to.

a.) If he were to just say "no comment" everyone would know that means yes. If he were, he's not going to say until he's allowed to say.
b.) Just because David Jaffe isn't working on one, doesn't mean no one is or a new Twisted Metal isn't in the works.
 
I hope there is though as it's been my favorite Sony franchise since the first one.
 
Personally, I don't really think this quote is news, but we'll see.

Sure it will. Don't underestimate brand recognition. A friend of mine just bought a PS3 last night, because Twisted Metal got announced. Obviously there's other games to play, but Twisted Metal was the one he was waiting for.  
 
Personally I'm not excited for it, I was never a big TM fan, but there's a lot of people who want it.

Really?  Were you a big gamer with the PS1?  I've found that amongst my friends, Twisted Metal is one of the most widely appreciated games and something everyone played during that time.  I was in High School at the time so maybe it's an age thing - but I know that this was a great game and resulted in endless playtimes it seemed.

As someone who was a PC gamer up until I got a PS2 I never played a Twisted Metal game so I was also skeptical of its lasting appeal a decade on from TM: Black when Sony decided it was worthy of finishing their press conference with a bang.
 
But I shit you not, on one of the most fanboyish and nerd ragish sites - Gamespot, I went to the Twisted Metal story page and couldn't find even a single negative comment about it.There was no ''TM SUX'' or ''LMAO SONY FAIL''. There were literally 5 pages of jubilation and people saying they were going to buy PS3s and buy it day one.I was pretty amazed.After being pretty ''meh'' on it initially I am now more than willing to give it a try.
