Why I like Torchwood more than Dr. Who's revived 2005 series

I'm an American Fan boy late to the bandwagon. But I like Torchwood more than the revived version of Dr. Who. I have finished watching all of the episodes through the miniseries and have even bought for extra radio plays produced by the Torchwood Staff. I like Torchwood so much the prospect of an American Torchwood with Captain Jack Harkness and maybe Gwen excites me. Even though I know if the show is brought to America it probably won't be as good as the British version. I guess I like Torchwood better than Dr. Who largely due to liking the Torchwood Universe more.

@Shirogane: Torchwood gets better. After Gwen stops being useless in the fifth or sixth episode I think.

@Shirogane:  The first season of Torchwood was pretty lame. The second season gets a lot better and Children of Earth is one of the best things I have ever seen. If you do nothing else, at least watch Children of Earth.

Also, I'm a much bigger fan of Doctor Who myself. Very happy with Matt Smith. That guy is awesome.

Children of Earth is the last season isn't it? yeah, i've been told i should just skip over and watch the whole last season.

Also, i can't get over the doctor not being Tennant...
That guy was awesome...
I still keep expecting him to pop up everytime instead of the new guy, who still feels weird to me. Doesn't seem like a doctor...

Torchwood is not cancelled there is a rumor that Fox network wants  to do a series with Russel T Davies, and John Barrowman. I guess my reason for liking Torchwood better is it's more about Humanities response to Aliens than an aliens response to Aliens. Also I hate that I have never found the origin of the Dalek soundbite in some version of the Dr. Who  themesong : The Tardis is a Weapon and it must be destroyed. no idea where it is or if I'm crazy but I swear some intro had a Dalek soundbite of that type in it.

Man, Doctor Who is cheesy but I cannot STAND Torchwood. I'd take Doctor Who any day. To me, Torchwood is just as juvenile as Doctor Who except it adds sex and violence to make it "adult". But the plots are just the same old Doctor Who crap

The Doctor is just such an interesting character, and I suppose Jack is as well, but I can't bring myself to like Torchwood more than Doctor Who.

The 2005 revival was my first exposure but i have goine back and watched alot of the old ones and there entertaining and I understand why people have loved them for so long but i still prefer the new ones, probably just some juvenile bias lol :P

Also that Dalek saying "the tardis is a weapon and it must be destroyed" i know that it is used in either season 3 or 4's main menus but i dont know which and i cant remember what episode it was in if at all.

@Mr_Faraday: thanks for confirming I wasn't crazy about that soundbite thing. I just wish it existed in something I could buy a bit of music or something.

Torchwood did get better, but that's like saying a toilet with a floater is worse than one without.  They both stink of human effluent.  I follow Torchwood right until the end of series (as it is) last year and I have to say that it did finally begin to come together a whole hell of a lot better but they're still be gratuitous for no reason. Yes we know that Captian Jack and Ianto are gay, there's no need for us to see sweaty male bodies to prove it, especially in light of the fact that hetero sex scenes have so far been utterly tame by comparison.  If the producers could just stop being edgy for no good reason I would take the show more seriously.  As it is now I've only kept watching it in the hopes the show would keep improving and get down to the business at hand; the rift.  There were some nice and well written moments with alien interlopers but still, for the most part, that stuff is just ham-fisted, especially Jack's brother.

Aaanyway, I still hold out hope and will be watching it again this year.
