I don't know what to title these things anymore. And as they rarely get read, who cares. But I felt like writing something so here goes, whatever comes to my head!

  • So I beat Borderlands on mah 360, and almost beat it twice but I was so done with that game by the time I reached 50 I just stopped. Glad to have all the achievements but I've played like 70 hours of it so I'm kinda tired. But I do keep having the urge to go back and play my Siren and find my Hunter better guns.
  • I got a couple Splosion Man awards which is cool so my avatar is now wearing a Splosion Man shirt and, well, I'd do him.... Anyway it said I got a sweater too but I can't find it. And since it's getting to that cold season I'd really like to find it so he doesn't die of Frostbite. I guess I'll just have to keep him away from them Battlefield games then... HAHAHAHAHA.........
  • Speaking of Battelfied, WTF 1943!? Why does your site and EA's totally suck. You finally fix the soldier pages but I can find no way to sync my game with the site so I can see my soldiers stats. I really just want to know how many more games I have to play for the Tour of Duty II achievement so I can finally have that game S ranked and complete.
  • On another note, it really irritates me that Bad Company 2 is going to have weapons and stuff that are for only those who buy the higher edition or w/e... WTF... apparently the first game did this too but I only picked that up in September. I really liked the campaign and it made me laugh a lot.
  • Demon's Souls is having this Halloween even thing today, but I can't bring myself to play it. Apparently there will be good things for those who do but I just don't want to die anymore right now. I really want to jump back into that game, but with MW2 coming out I just can't bring myself to play it for the next week and then drop it.
  • Oh and MW2..... I'm so tired of all these topics. I really wish it could just be banned from the forums. Not so much for the spoilers, but for the speculation. Everyone's wondering things that they couldn't possibly know until the game comes out. And apparently there have been like 25,000 pirated copies so far.... I want the game, but I don't want it that bad.... Alright, well maybe I do, but I'm not gonna pirate it. I'm getting worried about all this stuff that's being said though. I feel that if we didn't know about things like the tactical nuke, and the opening sequence, it wouldn't mean as much when we actually get our hands on the game and learn what it all really means, and are truly impacted by the games campaign. Gamers seem so into finding everything out about the game, which is often times a bad thing. It soils their views on it before it even comes out. I have no problem with being an informed consumer, but there is a limit.
  • I've also been trying to play Dead Space but that game freaks me out. I always think somethings gonna get me from behind. I'm slowly going through it though, a chapter at a time.
  • My Mario Hat arrived today from Club Nintendo, with no sign of the calendar. I'm guessing it's in the actual mail, as the hat came in a package. I can't really fit it on my head either, though it's really soft and I'm glad I chose it over the Punch Out!! game I would never play.
  • Downloaded Trine and really like it, but it's kinda hard. ;___; Was playing earlier and I really needed a checkpoint.... I also just can't get used to the controls, as I have to use the same buttons to do different things depending on the character, and it's throwing me off...
  • Downloaded a game called Mushroom Wars too. That games kinda brutally hard on Easy. I think it just wants me to be more aggressive... Also--it makes me want to play Advance Wars....
  • Oh and schoooooooool suckssssss... Man I just really hate math. It's so useless, why am I learning things that I'm never going to use. I would never accept a career path that made me use algebra or trig... It's just not logical that I'm forced to learn this crap.
  • But my writing class is cool. I was able to do a review for an assignment, for which I attempted to beat Demon's Souls but found myself having trouble with the later bosses, after flying by the earlier ones. This next week I have a contrast and compare two similar things. I chose Disgaea DS and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2. None of my classmates know what the hell I'm talking about, but my teacher is only grading on grammar and punctuation.

Alright, well that's all.... I'm gonna go watch TV and maybe play some Advance Wars now. Lol, almost typed Advance WarTs lololol................

-- THE MASTER OF PENGUINS.... (big build up....drum roll....)... ZELL!

OK but really I'm done now.

This has been happening for quite some time now, great surprises have been ruined through illicit means. Over and over we see trailers and game footage, screenshots, whatever, leaked online. We end up learning of these bombshells before the company even has a chance. Not only is it unfair to the company, but it's a bit unfair to the enthusiasts who end up speculating about it.

Though you speculate about the announcement for a while, and eventually come to accept that it's could be true, when it's finally announced, you're able to criticize it more than you would if it took you by utter surprise. You're almost immediately able to see the items faults and think more analytically of the footage, screens, etc.

So when these things are shown early, does it fully ruin the announcement? Would you rather be taken by total surprise like you were when you were younger, or even a few years ago, when you saw some great trailer that you had no idea was coming? Or do you somewhat enjoy the leaks, because it helps stave excitement that may blind you from faulting the game?

And of course, there are still announcements, that do take us by surprise, but there are just as many, if not more that are spoiled before the company plans to show the finished item.

It's not a major problem, but I've been going back and forth for a while now..... I just can't decide, so here it is.

I've never owned a Sony platform, but there are some games for the PS3 that I'd like to get, so I've been wanting one for a while no. So obviously you can see that with this recent price drop and announcement of the slimmer model, I see an opportunity to purchase a PS3.

But as I said before, I've never owned a PS1 or PS2, so I'd like to be able to play games for those platforms as well.

So here are my options.

1. Buy a 120GB PS3 Slim for $300, a PS2 Slim for $55, and a couple memory cards, (Amazon is carrying 8MB memory cards for $20, which seems like a lot to me, but I dunno).

2. Buy a 60GB PS3 for $345 on Amazon, which is backwards compatible, and I won't need any memory cards or take up more space with a PS2, but I'd want a bigger hard drive.

So what do you think I should do?

Alright so... I'm a bit confused as to what all went on last night... Monday night... Um.. Monday was my last day of school, and I had an all night LAN party thing with my friends to go to... And well, we stayed up all night. I woke up at 6AM Monday morning and finally got to sleep Tuesday at 1PM (after watching the end of the Nintendo conf. and all of Sony's). And well, I just woke up 45 minutes ago after passing out around 1...

So yeah, I vaguely remember doing things.... but I got all the times mixed up and stuff... We played so many games I'm all confused... We played N+ for like 3 hours straight... Then I attempted some Burnout Paradise and ended up just holding the right trigger with my eyes closed. We played Geometry Wars r2 for a while.... so many pretty explosions... And those two hours of Halo 3 earlier in the night.. And the hour of Rise of Nations... The hour I spent trying to sync my DSi with Club Nintendo in order to push myself into Platinum Status and then bought Mighty Flip Champs and Birds and Beans (which shouldn't be played when your really tired, either of them, damn did I do bad...) The only thing able to save me while late night gaming seems to be muscle memory, I didn't actually have to mind power to think how to do things.

And SCREW YOU N+! There were four of us and we failed so many times at some of those levels...

Anyway, my schedule is all messed up now and I need to go to bed like, at regular time, and go back to school tomorrow so I can do some "mock graduation" for the school, then go to our senior lunch thing... Whatever.. I'm so tired and wired at the same time right now. My muscles feel so weak. But I just want to play some games, maybe finally beat this damn Mighty Flip Champs level...

On an E3 note, I'd just like to say a few short things.....

  • First off, no StarFox Nintendo? Microsoft? Sony? Comon, anyone, just make me a StarFox game!!!
  • Sony said they were cutting their PSP developer tools by 80%... Someone should tell me where to find exactly where to get these tools, I'd like to see how much they are now, I'll make my own damn StarFox game! I'll just have to call it something else... STAR PENGUIN! Yeah.......
  • Sony had a cool motion thing, which I thought was sort of dumb at first, but got cooler when he started killing stuff, reminded me of Oblivion...
  • Golden Sun DS = Awesome, but not StarFox, but still awesome
  • Microsoft, you seem to include everything else in the 360, where's my browser?!
  • Sony, I want a PS3, more than ever now, but I still don't want to pay $400 or w/e.
  • And the PSP Go is $250?! Gahhh, should be $50 less... orr $75....
  • Oh and I'm a bit confused, so, all currently available PSP games will be available for DL, and all future games will be available in both UMD and downloadable format?
  • And are more of those memory stick card things going to be available? Like, 16GB isn't going to cut it, I'm going to need a few of those most likelly... Right? Seems like it's not very much....

Anyway, I think that's all. I'm like an hour off beating Chrono Trigger, so I think I'm gonna beat that, after a little Mighty Flip Champs, which is a pretty good, fairly tough puzzle game, by fairly tough I mean it's murdering me but I'm not very good at them puzzle games, just ask World of Goo.

Hey Giantbomb, you can help me graduate!
Alright so I got assigned this "Passion Project" to finish off my senior year of high school. It's basically this eight part assignment surrounding something we are "passionate" about. Of course I lean towards video games, it being my biggest, "passion." I finally came up with a good aspect of video games that I wanted to address, and that's where you all come in. I'm going to explain my project a bit and then ask for you all to tell me what you think about it all. Thanks in advance.

Some months back, I was listening to 1UpYours/Listen Up (I think it was still 1UPYours, I think it was around Christmas... I remember lots of people were switching on and off the mics and one guy was getting especially upset over it, and I connect this memory to me playing Castle Crashers and I was getting my butt kicked on the Lava area... Maybe it was GDC....) Anyway, I believe it was Robert Ashley, host of A Life Well Wasted podcast, brought up a man by the name of Chris Bateman. He talked about how Chris had all these personality types o5f "gamers" which related to what type of demographic they would be, what games they might enjoy and so on. I thought it sounded pretty interesting so I decided to do some light research, which I did, and sort of let it slip from my mind. But now I'm here doing this project on those same personality types.

So I'm going to explain the basic types and and it's relation to the Myers-Briggs personality test.

Let's start with the first type, The Conqueror.

The Conqueror (Type 1)

This type is obsessed with the idea of beating a game. They want to make sure the game is, their definition of done, before they put it back on the shelf. They might play and bear multiple games a month, and they don't feel good unless they actually beat the game. They also appreciate challenge, they don't want to play a game where they can essentially blaze through it all effortlessly. They love the idea of knowing the game, every aspect, and by the end, they feel as if they dominated it. If you're obsessed with "1000" pointing games you might be a Conqueror. Type 1 players often feel fiero which basically is the feeling you get when you triumph over something that others thought too hard to accomplish or you were struggling with. Like beating Call of Duty 4's, Mile High Club. Conqueror's are often goal oriented gamers. They want the game to say, "Try and beat this," and for themselves to struggle with it a bit, and finally beat it and the game to say, "Now beat this!"

Hardcore (H1)

Basically, The Conqueror to the max. Often playing JRPG's. This type, the pinnacle of hardcore, are the gamers who find everything in the game. They're the ones you see who found all the alternate outfits and titles in the Tales games. The ones who spent ten hours collecting flags in Assassin's Creed. The dudes who discovered on their own in which order to jump through all those hoops in Halo 3 to find that stupid skull.

Casual (C1)

Casual Conqueror. Often playing multiplayer games with their friends. They want to be the best, like trash talking to who they just beat. Only difference to be distinguished from H1 is that C1 wants more of what is called, "The People Factor" along with the rest of the trimmings.

The Manager (Type 2)

The Manager wants mastery of the game. Unlike The Conqueror, who wants to beat the game, The Manager just wants to become good at it. Once he feels that the game isn't going to change anymore than it already has, and they feel that they have played enough to understand the mechanics, they might feel that they've then beat the game. Like playing a Zelda game, by the end, you're not going to get any new weapons, you're just going to kill Ganon and rescue Zelda, which is only using the things you were taught, but if you were taught them and know them well enough by then, it no longer matters. Then again, they might master the game, and choose to continue through. They might play multiple times, they mastered the game, and so maybe they'll play through again because they now dominate everything. A good environment for a Type 2 is a game that has many different routes. Maybe play through Fallout 3 multiple times, being good one time and bad another. Strategy RPG's are also good. Games like Final Fantasy Tactics where you can play through hundreds of times with hundreds of possibilities is a good thing for The Manager.

Hardcore (H2)

Once again, the hardcore Managers really like their SPRG's. Maybe they'll play through Fire Emblem with as many Paladins as they can get their hands on, and only Paladins. Implementing different tactics than before and beating the game with the skills they've mastered many different ways. Sometimes creating challenges for themselves to see how well they can over come them.

Casual (C2)

Strategy and simulation games are often key here. The C2 is more likely to give up when presented with a particularly hard challenge, and they really like building things. Sim City might be a favorite game.

The Wanderer (Type 3)

"Easy Fun" is the main idea here. The Wanderer wants to always be enjoying the game they're playing, and if they aren't they'll often put it aside right away. They don't want much challenge, but if they come across a story oriented game they want to beat, they're the type to call they're Manager or Conqueror friend and ask for help. They're in it for the experience, not to be challenged.

Hardcore (H3)

They consider themselves hardcore because of the amount of games they play, but generally think games are too hard. They care more about having the game, "done right" rather than having it get done. Story is often important, and if they reach a particularly rough challenge in a game, they might cheat if they can, or find an easy way out of it to progress the narrative.

Casual (C3)

They need games to be really easy, but have similar tastes to the H3's. Don't much challenge, little to none, but they want to feel that they're completing things in the world. They want to be relaxed by games, but still be progressing through everything, and if the progress stops, they stop.

The Participant (Type 4)

The largest group, but we know the least about them. They don't show up often in the online data. They seem to be different from the other types, except they like to be involved in the story, either directly, or by watching someone else play. But, as stated before, not much is known.

Hardcore (H4)

They don't want competition in games, but they do want play through the game. Often they like RPG's.

Casual (C4)

Like gaming in groups. Co-op experiences are great, but also local competitive multiplayer. Might like playing games like, Mario Party, or Wii Sports. "The People Factor" is key again here. As for single player games, The Sims is a good one for them, and the game seems to have succeeded because of this group of gamers. They want either a fun local multiplayer, or a grand world to get lost in.

*          *          *

So that's about it, general information. Tried to keep it brief, yet still informative. Hope you liked it, and will tell me what you think.
Thanks in advance.
