I don't think the possibility that guns (and skyscrapers, for that matter) would break the current gameplay model is evidence that we aren't going modern. Actually, that Ubi might have to completely rip apart everything the series represents and start from scratch is, to me, the most exciting thing about AC3.

Huh... the only objection I had with AC2's story was their decision to go with the Earth's-magnetic-field-destabilizing thing at the end.  I would much rather have had them attribute 2012 to the Ones Who Came Before returning for vengeance or something, or else just stuck with it being Abstergo's launch date. Not that the Apocalypse is strictly a bad direction to go in, and in retrospect I should've seen it ...
